This will involve directing the development of surveillance and management of wildlife diseases, monitoring potential wildlife disease patterns and prioritizing disease areas requiring epidemiological investigation. This position will also analyze data, using the principles of epidemiology and biostatistics, to assess the effectiveness of wildlife disease surveillance and management measures, and to identify risk factors for disease transmission. This position will recommend regulation changes as necessary to monitor and manage wildlife diseases, recommend and develop professional working agreements with other agencies to enhance the agencies’ efforts to address wildlife diseases, and where necessary, obtain diagnostic and other professional services. Finally, this position will represent the agency at both technical and policy levels regarding wildlife disease issues.
