A confidential wellness and retreat destination is seeking a visible, hands-on Dining Manager to lead front-of-house service for daily guest meals, retreats and special programs. This role offers meaningful ownership of service, team development and coordination with an established culinary team.
What You Will Do
Lead approximately 15–20 front-of-house employees, supervisors and shift leaders; coordinate volunteers during major programs.
Own hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, coaching and performance management.
Spend most of the workday on the floor supporting service, employees and guests.
Coordinate meal timing and execution with the Executive Chef and work across events, housekeeping, reservations, facilities and programming.
Maintain sanitation, food safety, cleanliness, service presentation and guest-service standards.
Manage labor productivity, operating budgets, supplies, smallwares, purchasing and inventory; resolve guest concerns promptly.
Required Qualifications
Meaningful dining, banquet or food-service leadership with hands-on responsibility for employees and service execution.
Experience hiring or training staff, preparing schedules, coaching performance and coordinating front-of-house and kitchen teams.
Ability to manage high-volume service, changing guest counts and competing event priorities.
Strong organization, guest-service judgment, communication and labor-management skills.
Comfort leading both employees and volunteers in a mission-driven, vegetarian dining environment.
Preferred Experience
Five or more years of relevant leadership; experience supervising a team of approximately 15–20.
Buffet, banquet or group-meal experience, plus ServSafe or comparable certification.
Backgrounds may include resorts, clubs, hotels, conference centers, university or corporate dining, senior living, camps and large event facilities.
Assistant managers or senior supervisors may qualify if they already own staffing, scheduling, training and busy service independently.
Schedule and Location
A five-day hospitality schedule, typically Wednesday–Sunday, with daytime service and early evenings; scheduling adjusts around retreats and events.
Regular weekend and early-evening availability, with holiday work when required.
On-site work near Boone; a realistic mountain commute or relocation plan is essential.
Compensation and Benefits
Target base salary is approximately $55,000, with limited flexibility.
No bonus is offered. Standard employee benefits are available under the employer’s plans.
Discounted employee housing is available subject to availability and applicable terms.
Full-time benefits include subsidized health/dental coverage and paid vacation/sick time after 90 days, plus a 401(k) contribution/match after one year.
Employee meal-plan and wellness-program opportunities will be explained during screening.
