About the job

RedCloud seeks a Data Center Deployment Network Engineer to support immediate client operations.

Location: United States (Remote). Travel required to oversee critical deployment phases, up to 30%.

Overview:

We are growing our data center network engineering team supporting large-scale infrastructure migrations. This Data Center Deployment Network Engineer role is a hands-on position responsible for driving brownfield Infrastructure Controls Networks (OT/ BMS, PMS, and Cooling) from initial planning through final completion across data centers.

In this role, you will Act as the technical project owner, bridging the gap between high-level planning and operational execution. You will orchestrate the end-to-end migration workflow, collaborating with the team to refine strategies and taking full accountability for the project’s "off and on the ground" implementation. You are responsible for ensuring all project milestones are met with operational excellence and that the migration is realized successfully according to the established roadmap.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to resolve pre-migration network issues, author and meticulously review declarative network model files (.textproto) consumed by Offline Device Setup (ODS)— our client’s Zero-Touch Provisioning system, assemble end-to-end Methods of Procedure (MOPs), Migration Ready Plans and serve as the first level escalation point of contact (POC) for questions and live issues during migrations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Technical Project Ownership, Inventory & Migration Planning

As the technical project owner you will build and maintain accurate physical and logical network surveys from legacy switch data (Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Moxa, GarrettCom, Schneider, Siemens), resolving gaps between documentation and field reality

Work closely with cross-functional teams and on-site technicians to identify and fix pre-migration network issues (such as broken rings, access issues, unreachable switches, or cabling mismatches) before the cutover window

Own and lead site-specific development and execution of comprehensive Migration Plan,s Bills of Materials (BOMs), pre-cabling cut-sheets, and migration steps; create Lucidchart topology diagrams and compile everything into a complete Migration Ready Plan (MOP)

Lead the end-to-end execution of data center migration workstreams. You are responsible for translating high-level strategy into actionable, technical steps and managing the physical/logical deployment until completion

Network Modeling (.textproto) & Offline Device Setup (ODS)

Create, update, and meticulously review .textproto configuration file in web-based IDE (Google Cider) — using existing inventory data and with the help of Go and Python scripts, ensuring 100% accuracy and network correctness since these files directly feed Offline Device Setup (ODS) to build, model and configure the network

Verify port assignments, switch hardware capacities, optics/cabling, L2 ring connectivity, VLANs, and unmanaged switch mappings before deployment

Own, run and monitor Offline Device Setup ODS workflows, troubleshooting, escalating and resolving any provisioning or workflow blockers

Maintain repository of accurate MOPs for device upgrades and input initial configurations (produced by ODS) enabling on-site personnel to ready hardware for deployment

Maintain high-fidelity data management sheets to track project milestones, asset allocation, and technical specifications.

Migration Drive, Zero-Touch Provisioning (ZTP) & Cutover Support

Drive assigned migrations from start to finish, proactively pushing through blockers to keep deployments on schedule

Serve as the primary escalation POC for field technicians, project managers, and stakeholders to answer technical questions and resolve issues before and during migrations

Provide live L1–L3 network troubleshooting during migration windows (cabling/optics, VLANs, and L2 rings,) to ensure a smooth transition with minimal downtime, and oversee the safe decommissioning of legacy switches

Manage, execute, and track Zero-Touch Provisioning (ZTP) Shax deployment workflows for seamless hardware rollouts, actively diagnosing, escalating, and fixing any automation or provisioning impediments

Solution-Oriented Engagement

Partner seamlessly with internal engineering groups, external clients, and technical partners using clear and professional written and verbal communication skills to accelerate project execution, facilitate technical support, and maintain alignment across complex initiatives and deadlines.

Foster a constructive, professional environment by valuing stakeholder input, demonstrating a proactive mindset, and prioritizing rapid resolution of technical challenges over pointing out deficiencies or organizational obstacles

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

8+ years in network engineering within data center or large campus environments, with proven experience driving network migrations to completion

Networking certifications (any of the following): CCNP (or active CCNA with strong migration experience and OT Networks), Arista ACE Specialist or professional, Juniper: JNCIS, JNCIP

Strong hands-on L1–L3 networking knowledge (Arista, Cisco, or Juniper) — VLANs, trunking, L2 rings/STP, LACP, VRRP, BGP, VRFs, fiber/copper cabling, and optics

High attention to detail and solid knowledge of networks when creating and reviewing declarative network models (.textproto) and Logical Surveys

Comfortable working in Linux and a web-based IDE (Google Cider) to create structured configuration files run and troubleshoot basic Python or Go scripts that generate network models and deliverables

Proven ownership of migration deliverables: Migration ready plans, network surveys, BOMs, cabling cut-sheets, Lucidchart diagrams, and MOPs

Exceptional technical troubleshooting skills — adept at diagnosing and resolving complex live network, hardware, and workflow issues during migrations.

Preferred software and automation credentials (any of the following): Cisco Automation AUTOCOR, Arista ACE: Cloud Automation, Juniper JNCIA-DevOps, or Python (PCEP/PCAP)

Exposure to data center controls and OT networks: Building Management Systems (BMS), Power Monitoring Systems (PMS), Cooling networks, and industrial DIN-rail switches is a plus

Strong interpersonal abilities — skilled at aligning cross-functional partners and on-site specialists while serving as the primary escalation POC throughout migration initiatives

Able to travel 30 percent of the time to data center sites as needed for key deployment phases

Key Competencies & Soft Skills

Balances high-level project management with hands-on technical execution to deploy infrastructure and manage multiple work streams autonomously from design to completion

Executes complex responsibilities with minimal supervision, driving milestones to success across all project phases

Forward-thinking mindset that anticipates technical or logistical blockers ahead of time and maintains 100% precision across inventories, .textproto reviews, and cutover documentation

Agile and effective in fast-moving environments with evolving scopes, tooling, and operational procedures

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
