Staff Tax Accountant
Why This Opportunity Stands Out:
• Real advancement potential: With limited layers between staff and senior leadership, strong performers can take on increasingly significant responsibilities. • Path toward ownership: Employees can earn annual phantom equity designed to reward those who stay and help grow the firm. • Exceptional stability: Several employees have built careers of 10–20+ years with the organization. • New office environment: Work from a new corporate-style Reading location where employees have their own offices rather than cubicles. • Modern CPA firm: The organization is investing in AI-enabled technology and more integrated accounting tools to reduce repetitive data-entry work. • Different approach to public accounting: No chargeable-hour or realization goals. You are expected to own your work, meet deadlines, and operate like a professional.
Target Compensation: Approximately $70,000–$80,000 depending on experience, including overtime where applicable.
Key Responsibilities for the Staff Tax Accountant:
• Prepare individual, partnership, and corporate returns, including 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120-S filings. • Support preparation through workpapers, trial balances, and general accounting activities. • Work closely with experienced tax leadership while developing toward review-level responsibilities. • Manage assignments around key tax deadlines. • Utilize UltraTax, QuickBooks, and evolving AI-enabled tax technology.
Qualifications for the Staff Tax Accountant:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline. • 0–3 years of accounting or tax experience. • Open to new graduates, particularly candidates with accounting internships or relevant experience. • Strong technology skills and interest in pursuing a long-term career in tax/public accounting.
