Billing Operations Analyst

The Billing Operations Analyst will provide hands-on ownership of commissions reporting while supporting billing operations across multiple energy markets. This role will analyze account and billing data, troubleshoot system exceptions, maintain pricing information, and work across Operations and Accounting to ensure billing activity is accurate, timely, and reconciled.

Responsibilities

Own the end-to-end commissions reporting process, including accuracy, timeliness, validation, and process improvement.

Analyze billing exceptions and determine root causes across multiple systems.

Review usage-not-billing reports and resolve unbilled accounts.

Support payment posting and review AR balances associated with external Bill Ready processes.

Monitor and resolve check rejections and other billing file exceptions.

Submit utility pricing files and maintain accurate rates across applicable sites.

Validate external Rate Ready shadow billing reports against internal data.

Process and troubleshoot EDI batch log exceptions for billing items that fail to post.

Perform month-to-month utility reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.

Support rerate analysis, billing corrections, and account adjustments.

Assist Accounting with reconciliations, tax reporting, and financial reporting.

Analyze exception reports and follow identified issues through final resolution.

Respond to customer billing inquiries and research complex account issues.

Identify opportunities to improve billing processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.

Qualifications

5+ years of Billing Operations, Accounts Receivable, or closely related billing experience required .

Experience resolving billing exceptions, unbilled accounts, payment posting issues, and account discrepancies .

Experience owning recurring financial or commissions reporting processes from end to end .

Advanced Excel skills , including PivotTables, formulas, and data analysis; macros preferred.

Experience performing root-cause analysis and troubleshooting billing errors across multiple systems.

Experience with utility or retail energy billing strongly preferred .

Experience with EDI, rate/pricing files, utility reconciliations, or Bill Ready/Rate Ready processes preferred .

Experience analyzing high-volume billing and financial data for accuracy and reconciliation.
