Cloud Infrastructure Engineer — Azure
Remote – U.S. | Must Work Mountain Time Hours
6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Contract Rate: $85/hour W-2 + Health Benefit Options
Conversion Salary: $160,000–$170,000
Epic Placements is hiring a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support a high-priority, AI-enabled healthcare technology initiative for a leading health system.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who knows how to build, operate, secure, and troubleshoot Azure infrastructure in production . You'll join an active build as the team prepares a new platform for production and become a key owner of the cloud infrastructure supporting it.
The environment is fast-moving and highly collaborative. We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, taking ownership, and building—not simply maintaining an established environment.
This position is remote within the United States , but candidates must be willing and able to consistently work Mountain Time Zone business hours .
What You'll Do
Build, maintain, and support production infrastructure in Microsoft Azure
Own Azure networking, identity/access, compute, monitoring, and related cloud services
Provision and manage infrastructure using Terraform
Help prepare a new cloud environment for production launch
Monitor application and infrastructure health, uptime, capacity, and performance
Troubleshoot production issues and participate in incident response
Implement cloud security best practices, including least-privilege access, network rules, service accounts, and secrets management
Support integrations between Snowflake and Azure workloads
Monitor cloud utilization and identify opportunities for cost optimization
Support production AI/ML and data-intensive workloads
Work within a ticket-driven operational support environment
Collaborate closely with software engineers, data teams, and business/clinical stakeholders
Help solve infrastructure problems in an environment where architecture and priorities are still evolving
What We're Looking For
Strong hands-on experience supporting Microsoft Azure in production
Experience with Azure networking, identity/access management, compute, and monitoring
Strong hands-on experience with Terraform / Infrastructure as Code
Experience in cloud operations, Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, or production infrastructure
Production troubleshooting and incident-response experience
Strong understanding of cloud security fundamentals
Experience supporting highly available, production-critical environments
Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
High degree of ownership and comfort operating independently
Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving environment where priorities can change quickly
Must be located in the U.S. and able to consistently work Mountain Time Zone hours
Strongly Preferred
Experience integrating Snowflake with Azure
Healthcare technology or health-system experience
Experience working with HIPAA-regulated or other sensitive data
Epic, EHR/EMR, FHIR, or HL7v2 exposure
Experience supporting AI/ML or data-science workloads in production
CI/CD experience
Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tooling
Docker and/or Kubernetes
Experience helping build infrastructure or platforms 0?1
Experience taking new environments from development into production
The Environment
This is a great fit for an engineer who likes being close to the build.
You'll be joining a team developing a new AI-enabled platform that will work with real-time clinical and operational data. Rather than inheriting a mature environment with every process already defined, you'll have the opportunity to help establish how the production infrastructure should operate.
We're looking for someone who can bring strong cloud engineering fundamentals while remaining pragmatic, curious, and comfortable figuring things out alongside the team.
Compensation & Employment
This position will begin as a 6-month W-2 contract through Epic Placements with the intention of converting to a permanent position with the client.
Contract: $85/hour W-2
