About the job
Location: Hybrid/Remote (In-Person as needed, generally 2x onsite per week) within 40 miles of Round Rock, TX
Overview
KORE1, a nationwide provider of staffing and recruiting solutions, is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to provide hands-on technical leadership in designing and delivering sophisticated web applications for a next-generation data analytics platform supporting space and critical infrastructure applications.
This is a frontend-focused full-stack engineering role requiring strong experience with React, TypeScript, and modern web technologies, combined with a solid understanding of backend systems, APIs, and distributed application architecture.
The ideal candidate is a full-stack engineer who enjoys working primarily on the frontend but understands how complex backend services, data pipelines, and system components interact. This individual will help build the platform from the ground up, developing intuitive, high-performance interfaces for large-scale telemetry, analytics, geospatial data, and model-generated results.
Unlike traditional CRUD applications, this platform involves computationally demanding visualizations, including interactive heat maps, geospatial displays, satellite orbital data, and potentially 3D models rendered within web browsers.
The engineer will work closely with Product, backend/platform engineers, machine learning engineers, infrastructure engineers, and other technical stakeholders to translate functional specifications into scalable, production-ready applications.
This is a senior individual-contributor position with no direct reports, offering opportunities for technical leadership, architectural decision-making, and peer mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performance web interfaces using React, TypeScript, HTML, and modern CSS.
Translate approved functional specifications into detailed technical specifications covering user workflows, components, state management, API interactions, accessibility, performance, and testing.
Develop sophisticated data visualization interfaces, including interactive analytics dashboards, heat maps, geospatial visualizations, telemetry displays, and complex data exploration workflows.
Integrate frontend applications with backend services using gRPC and Protocol Buffers (Protobuf), ensuring strongly typed data contracts, compatibility, and efficient handling of large datasets.
Design and implement intuitive workflows for data uploading, ingestion, inspection, correlation, validation, organization, export, and monitoring.
Establish reusable frontend components, design patterns, application boundaries, and state management approaches that support long-term maintainability.
Collaborate with backend engineers to define API contracts, manage streaming data, handle errors and partial failures, and coordinate schema evolution.
Develop automated unit, integration, end-to-end, and regression tests, including API mocking, fixtures, and contract testing.
Maintain technical documentation, architecture decision records, and engineering standards while reviewing code and mentoring junior engineers.
Support application performance, accessibility, security, troubleshooting, release validation, and reliable operation in cloud-native and disconnected or air-gapped environments.
Required Qualifications
6+ years of professional software engineering experience developing and delivering production web applications, including significant frontend architecture and complex feature ownership.
Strong full-stack engineering background with a preference for frontend development and a solid understanding of backend architecture, data flow, and distributed systems.
Advanced proficiency with TypeScript, React, HTML, CSS, and modern browser technologies.
Hands-on experience with gRPC and Protocol Buffers (Protobuf), including strongly typed API contracts and frontend/backend integration.
Experience building complex, data-intensive web interfaces involving interactive visualizations, large datasets, advanced filtering, data exploration, and asynchronous workflows.
Experience integrating frontend applications with backend services, including streaming data, generated API clients, schema evolution, and error handling.
Understanding of server-side application development and the ability to collaborate effectively with backend engineers, regardless of the specific backend programming language.
Experience designing reusable components, managing application state, and establishing scalable frontend architecture.
Experience developing and maintaining automated frontend tests, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
Ability to review functional requirements, identify technical dependencies, and produce implementation-ready technical specifications.
Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation, architecture decisions, and engineering design records.
Strong understanding of web application performance, accessibility, responsive design, authentication, authorization, and browser debugging.
Demonstrated ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship as a senior individual contributor.
Minimum education requirement: High School Diploma.
U.S. Citizenship required, with eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
Must reside within approximately 40 miles of Round Rock, TX, with the ability to attend in-person meetings and collaborate onsite as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing advanced web-based data visualizations, including geospatial mapping, heat maps, time-series analytics, satellite orbital visualizations, or interactive 3D models.
Experience with computationally intensive browser applications and visualization libraries or frameworks.
Experience working with streaming analytics data, large telemetry datasets, anomaly detection results, or scientific data applications.
Experience using generated API clients from Protobuf definitions and managing strongly typed frontend/backend interfaces.
Familiarity with cloud-native applications, containerized environments, and distributed system architecture.
Experience supporting applications deployed in disconnected, on-premises, or air-gapped environments.
Background developing applications for aerospace, defense, satellite systems, critical infrastructure, or other highly technical industries.
Experience mentoring developers and contributing to frontend engineering standards and architecture decisions.
