About the job
People who join this team tend to stay for the long haul, and that kind of loyalty is earned. Leadership takes genuine care of its people, invests in their development, and makes room for advancement from within. Knowledge is shared freely, and new team members are supported by experienced colleagues who want to see them succeed. It is a grounded, values-driven manufacturing environment where practical work and real relationships matter more than flash.
This role puts you at the center of a high-volume materials recovery and recycling program, where every load is a business decision. You will own a network of hundreds of vendors, negotiate freight and warehouse rates, and use the numbers to keep thousands of annual truckloads profitable while spotting smarter options before anyone else does. You will lead a dedicated coordinator and work with everyone from shipping supervisors to company presidents. Once the program is in your hands, there is real room to grow it, and your career along with it.
Role Responsibilities
Maintain cost-efficient relationships with existing vendors, freight carriers, and recycling contractors, each with unique requirements.
Develop and qualify new vendors, brokers, third-party recyclers, consolidators, and freight carriers, with an emphasis on working directly with converting and manufacturing customers.
Implement program activities that strengthen the manufacturing and servicing of recycled products, including working with vendors and customers to identify non-standard incoming materials.
Manage all aspects of recycling contractor relationships with support from sales leadership, senior management, and engineering, including product costing, training, building leases, waste streams, and equipment service.
Maintain gross margin formulas for vendor relationships, including individual P&L reporting.
Collaborate with the sales team, contractors, and department supervisors to match recycled products to customer needs.
Manage supply chains for company-supplied packaging materials provided to recycling contractors.
Review and approve all vendor and contractor payments.
Analyze and act on data, market trends, and time-sensitive requests.
Serve as backup for the essential duties of the recycling coordinator.
Support the recycling coordinator and collaborate on continuous improvements to their duties.
Partner with supply chain staff on logistics and supply chain market conditions.
Coach sales and customer service teams on identifying recycling opportunities.
Present pricing recommendations to sales leadership on a regular basis, including required price increases and supporting cost analysis.
Travel as needed to support customers, vendors, and contractors.
Assist the sales team with various projects.
Represent the program at trade shows and support the promotion of services.
Use CRM software to track and support customer and vendor relationships.
Contribute to team goals by delivering related results as needed.
