About the job

About FLORA

FLORA is building the world's most powerful creative tools: a creative workspace with purpose-built AI tools for every step of the creative process. Our mission is to make creatives more powerful. Teams at Pentagram, Nike, Prada, and Lionsgate use FLORA to move from first concept to finished, on-brand work at scale.

In January 2026 we raised a $42M Series A led by Redpoint Ventures, bringing total funding to $52M, alongside investors including Menlo Ventures, a16z, and Hanabi Capital.

About the role

We're hiring our first Director of Finance to lead FLORA's finance function. Your mandate is to turn our numbers into decisions and actions that improve our finances. How we price, where we spend, and how we manage finances are core to how we build the company, not a back-office exercise.

This is a hands-on director role. You'll own the function end to end, build the model yourself, and also make sure the right invoice gets approved and the right customer pays on time. You'll work closely with our leads for Data, Operations, Product, Marketing, and Sales, and with our founder and CEO.

What you'll do

Strategic finance

Lead pricing and packaging analysis for self-serve and enterprise, including plan and usage pricing, plan tiers, and discounting guidelines

Ensure all our costs are accounted for and warranted, from inference and infrastructure spend to vendor contracts, software, and promotional credits

Own gross margin as a company metric. Partner with our Head of Data to define and oversee margins by plan and model.

Work with functional leads to turn recommendations into owned initiatives with clear targets, then track them through to results

Planning and forecasting (FP&A)

Build and own FLORA's operating model: revenue targets and the operating drivers behind them, headcount, burn, and runway

Lead the annual budget and quarterly forecasts with the CEO and functional leads

Own headcount planning with the CEO: build the hiring plan, model fully loaded cost per role, and tie every hire to the budget and financials

Partner with RevOps and Sales leadership on the sales capacity plan, owning the financial side: headcount cost, hiring timing against budget and runway, and tying quota capacity to the company revenue plan

Partner with RevOps on sales compensation: forecast and accrue commission expense, review payout calculations, and make sure payroll runs draws and true-ups cleanly and on time

Run scenario analysis on hiring, spend, and fundraising timing so leadership can make trade-offs with clear numbers

Accounting, reporting, and controls

Run the monthly close with our external accountants. Review the books, identify key trends and anomalies, and deliver a monthly financial package to the executive team with recommendations

Establish financial controls that fit our size: spend policies, approval workflows, and vendor management

Oversee accounts payable, including bill approvals, vendor payments, and employee reimbursements

Oversee accounts receivable and collections for enterprise customers: invoicing, payment terms, and follow-up on overdue balances

Investors, compliance, and fundraising readiness

Own financial reporting to investors and the board, including monthly investor updates and board meeting materials

Support fundraising, including preparing a clean data room, consistent metrics definitions, and financials that hold up to diligence

Manage the equity pool and cap table: oversee and implement any employee equity actions (e.g. new equity grants, exercise requests), track pool usage against the hiring plan, model grant sizes and refresh needs, and coordinate 409A valuations

Work with outside advisors on tax filings, sales tax and VAT exposure across our global customer base, R&D tax credits, and audit readiness

Choose and improve our finance systems and processes as we scale

What you'll bring

8+ years in finance, and ideally 3+ years at a venture-backed startup in SaaS, usage-based, or AI businesses

Experience as the senior finance person, owning a broad finance scope at a growing company

Strong command of SaaS and usage-based financial metrics

Solid grounding in GAAP accrual accounting, including revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and COGS classification

Experience building operating models, budgets, and headcount plans from scratch, and keeping them current as the business changes

Experience with sales capacity planning and commission plan design

A builder's bias: you're as comfortable chasing an overdue invoice as presenting to the board

Clear, direct communication. You can turn a set of financials into decisions the executive team should make this month

The judgment to put controls in place without slowing the team down

Curiosity about creative industries and the tools creatives use

Exceptionally strong candidates might also have

Experience at an AI company managing inference or third-party model costs

Hands-on experience designing pricing for usage or credit-based products

Led or supported fundraising at a venture-backed company, including diligence
