Position Overview:
VitalEdge Technologies is seeking a self-starting Product Manager to own a portfolio of Layered Apps built in and around its core dealer management system (DMS). These applications extend the DMS into the service bay, field and yard, helping heavy equipment dealerships plan work, dispatch technicians and manage daily operations.
The role spans service planning and technician productivity, dealer operations workflows, adjacent dealer use cases and new applications. AI is central to the portfolio, so hands-on experience building and shipping AI products is required. The Product Manager will set product direction, respond to market shifts and work closely with customers, engineering, UX, QA, implementation and support to deliver practical, scalable solutions.
Responsibilities:
Product Strategy & Ownership
Define product vision, strategy and prioritized roadmaps aligned with Layered Apps and company goals.
Monitor market, competitor and customer trends in the equipment dealer space; adjust product positioning and priorities as needed.
Build business cases for features and applications, including sizing, pricing input and success metrics; determine which adjacent dealer use cases to pursue as the portfolio grows.
Serve as the product expert for customers, internal teams and leadership.
Use Cases & Domain Leadership
Own and continuously improve use cases across:
Service planning & technician productivity: Technician scheduling and dispatch based on skills, certifications, location and job priority; technician onboarding, skills tracking, time, utilization and performance; mobile work-order, labor, parts, photo and note capture; and AI-assisted diagnostics, repair steps, service-history summaries and job notes.
Dealer operations workflows: Equipment and vehicle traffic across yards, shops and branches; warehouse receiving, put-away, picking and staging; and digital workflows that replace paper and manual hand-offs between the front office and field.
Adjacent use cases around the core DMS: New use cases across service, parts, sales, rental and back office; extending DMS data and workflows to new users, devices and locations; connecting Layered Apps with the DMS, OEM and third-party systems to avoid re-entry; and modules, add-ons or integrations that close day-to-day operational gaps.
New applications: Identify and validate dealer problems, take the strongest ideas to launch, and develop AI-first experiences using existing data and integrations.
Discovery, AI & Delivery
Work directly with dealers, service managers, technicians, dispatchers and warehouse staff to understand workflows and pain points; translate insights into requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
Manage integrations and dependencies with VitalEdge core platforms and third-party systems.
Identify opportunities for AI to improve technician and dealer-staff productivity, including guided diagnostics, smart scheduling, summarization and automated communication.
Apply AI tools throughout the product lifecycle, from research and prototyping to requirements, testing and analysis; define how AI features are measured, monitored and improved after release.
Work with engineering, UX and QA in an Agile environment to plan sprints, make trade-offs and ship on schedule.
Partner with sales, marketing, implementation and support on launches, enablement and customer adoption; own product KPIs including adoption, retention, technician utilization and customer satisfaction, and report progress to leadership.
Required Skills & Experience:
Product Management & AI
5+ years of product management experience in B2B SaaS or enterprise software, with end-to-end ownership from discovery through launch and ongoing improvement.
Ability to manage multiple use cases and build products that extend a core system of record such as an ERP or DMS.
Hands-on experience building and shipping AI-powered products or features, such as LLM-based assistants, AI agents, predictive models or intelligent automation, from concept through production.
Working knowledge of AI product development and measurement, including data requirements, model evaluation, prompt and workflow design, and responsible AI considerations.
Domain, Technical & Analytical Skills
Experience in one or more of the following: field service management, dispatch and scheduling, mobile workforce applications, communication platforms or operational workflow software.
Comfort working with technical teams on integrations, APIs and platform dependencies.
Strong analytical, organizational and decision-making skills, including using data to guide decisions.
Collaboration & Personal Attributes
Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to present to customers and executives; builds strong working relationships across engineering, sales, support and leadership.
Highly motivated and self-directed, with energy, urgency and follow-through; identifies problems and moves work forward without detailed direction.
Quick to learn new domains, systems and technologies; comfortable learning dealer operations from the ground up.
Takes ownership and treats products as their own business; thrives in a fast-growing environment where priorities shift.
