About the job
The Role
Take industrial power sites from raw land to operational pad. You own civil design, site works and permitting for each new location, working hands-on in the field and with the contractors who build it. This is a founding-team seat building critical infrastructure from the ground up.
What You Will Run
Lead civil site design: grading, drainage, stormwater, access roads and pads
Coordinate geotech, foundations and utility routing for modular infrastructure and substations
Design hydrology, storm drain and gravity wastewater systems; run stormwater models (StormCAD, CivilStorm)
Prepare and manage civil permits: erosion and sediment control, SWPPP and permit approvals
Research AHJ requirements in each new jurisdiction across the US, Canada and Mexico
Support site due diligence, master planning and site selection for new locations
Manage civil contractors and surveyors; review and stamp drawings
Own scope, budget and schedule; run QA/QC on civil deliverables
Mentor EITs and junior engineers as the team grows
What It Takes
BS in Civil Engineering; PE preferred (any North American jurisdiction)
Site development experience on industrial, data center, energy or utility projects
Proven track record taking sites from design through construction with field ownership, not design review only
Direct experience on hyperscale, colocation, AI data centers, semiconductor or heavy industrial campuses
Familiarity with permitting and stormwater requirements across North America, starting with Texas
Proficient in Civil 3D
Based in North America and willing to work on site; Houston, TX is home base
Authorized to work in the United States
Willing to travel to power sites, vendor factories and customer locations
Able to work safely in factory, construction and live data center environments (PPE, LOTO, site safety rules)
Clear written and verbal communication with engineers, vendors, contractors and leadership
Comfortable in an early-stage company where priorities and scope change quickly
Able to pass a background check (required for secure-site access)
About Our Client
A self-performing contractor designing and building AI compute infrastructure. The team is small, senior and hands-on. Every seat is player-coach: you do the work personally on version one, then build and run the bench. They hire for accountability, speed, comfort with ambiguity and a bias to get things done.
What’s Offered
Direct ownership of your function with a short path to leadership. Compensation range to be confirmed by the hiring manager.
