Professional Liability Claims Adjuster

Insurance Placement Solutions (IPS) has an immediate opening for a Professional Liability Claims Examiner with our client. This is a direct-hire opportunity for an experienced claims professional located in the San Diego, California area. The position may be worked remotely; however, candidates must reside in or near San Diego and be available to travel locally for client meetings and file reviews.

In this role, you’ll manage complex Professional Liability claims involving financial losses arising from professional errors, omissions, and alleged failures to perform professional services. You’ll evaluate coverage and liability, investigate standard-of-care issues, review contracts and professional documentation, manage litigation, and develop strategies to move claims toward effective resolution.

Professional Liability Claims Examiner Responsibilities

Manage complex Professional Liability and Errors & Omissions claims from assignment through resolution

Investigate allegations involving professional errors, omissions, negligence, and failure to perform professional services

Analyze policy coverage, contracts, professional obligations, and applicable standards of care

Evaluate economic damages, contractual damages, lost profits, and other financial exposures

Review professional documentation, expert reports, contracts, and other evidence relevant to claim evaluation

Develop claim strategies and action plans based on coverage, liability, damages, and potential exposure

Manage litigated claims and coordinate strategy with defense counsel and other experts

Establish and maintain appropriate reserves based on claim exposure

Evaluate and negotiate settlements within designated authority

Maintain accurate and timely claim documentation

Communicate claim developments, exposure, and resolution strategies to clients and other stakeholders

Participate in client file reviews and meetings as required

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of Professional Liability claims handling experience

Experience handling Professional Liability claims within California

Experience evaluating Errors & Omissions claims involving financial or economic loss

Experience managing complex and litigated Professional Liability claims

Licensing & Certifications

Active California Adjuster License required

Work Arrangement

Candidates must reside in San Diego or the surrounding area
