About the job
Do you want to define the future of how hundreds of millions of Amazon customers prove who they are? AI-powered attacks are making passwords and legacy multi-factor authentication increasingly vulnerable, and our Identity team is responding by building the next generation of authentication — passkeys, digital IDs, phishing-resistant phone-number verification, and more. As a Senior Product Manager, Technical on this team, you will own the end-to-end product lifecycle for these new authentication experiences, from problem discovery through launch and optimization, across surfaces including desktop, mobile, TV, and smart-home devices.
You will combine deep customer empathy with rigorous metrics analysis to understand how customers sign in, where friction exists, and what solutions will earn their trust. You will partner with engineering, design, legal, and cross-functional stakeholders to ship experiences that protect customers while keeping interactions simple and intuitive. If you are energized by solving complex security challenges at massive scale and want your work to be felt every time a customer interacts with Amazon, we would love to hear from you.
Key job responsibilities - Define and evolve the authentication product strategy — assess customer needs, market trends, and emerging threats to set a clear vision for passwordless and phishing-resistant experiences across your area of ownership. - Own the product roadmap from concept to launch, prioritizing initiatives based on customer impact and business value while managing cross-functional dependencies with engineering, design, and legal teams. - Write detailed product requirements, user stories, and success criteria; partner with designers on prototypes and with engineers on architecture reviews to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and intuitive. - Analyze adoption metrics, customer behavior data, and performance indicators to identify optimization opportunities, root-cause issues, and inform roadmap investments. - Collaborate with senior leaders, partner teams, and stakeholders across the company to build alignment on new authentication initiatives and influence organization-wide priorities.
A day in the life Your morning might start by reviewing authentication success-rate dashboards and digging into an anomaly you spotted in passkey enrollment metrics. After a design review for a new digital ID verification flow, you join your engineering team's sprint planning to refine acceptance criteria and discuss technical trade-offs. In the afternoon, you draft a product requirements document for a phishing-resistant verification feature, then meet with a partner team to align on an upcoming launch across multiple device surfaces. Between meetings, you connect with customers through usability studies and support-ticket analysis to keep your roadmap grounded in real needs.
About the team Our Identity Services team owns one of the most highly trafficked experiences at Amazon — the moment a customer signs in. We support products like Retail, Alexa, Prime Video, and Amazon Pay across every device type, and our mission is to make authentication secure, simple, and invisible. We are dedicated to mentorship and career growth. Our team has a broad mix of experience levels, and we pair new members with one-on-one mentors and thoughtful document reviews so everyone develops into a well-rounded product manager ready to take on increasingly complex challenges. - 5+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience - Bachelor's degree - Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product - Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition - Experience with end to end product delivery - Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product - Experience managing technical products or online services - Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning - Experience in using analytical tools, such as Tableau, Qlikview, QuickSight - Experience in building and driving adoption of new tools
