At Emory Healthcare, we improve lives and provide hope. Emory University Hospital, our flagship academic medical center, is a Magnet-designated hospital where nurses care for people with some of the most complex health needs in the Southeast — and where research moves quickly from the lab to the bedside.

We're seeking a visionary nurse executive to serve as Vice President, Patient Care Services & Chief Nursing Officer. As the senior nursing executive for Emory University Hospital, you'll hold full executive authority over nursing practice, policies and professional standards. You'll work closely with the hospital COO, the Emory Healthcare Chief Nurse Executive, medical staff leaders and executive partners to advance nursing strategy, operational performance and new models of care.

What you'll do

Set the vision. Establish the strategic direction for nursing and patient care services, aligned with Emory Healthcare's enterprise nursing strategy. Serve as a key advisor on the senior leadership team.

Lead care delivery. Guide high-quality, evidence-based patient care across inpatient and ambulatory settings. Optimize capacity, throughput and staffing models in partnership with the Transfer Center and centralized staffing teams.

Advance quality and safety. Partner with the Office of Quality to lead patient safety, infection prevention and clinical risk initiatives, and to sustain Magnet® standards for nursing excellence.

Build a thriving workforce. Shape recruitment, retention, engagement and succession strategies. Foster a healthy work environment built on shared decision-making, psychological safety and professional growth.

Steward resources. Oversee nursing and patient care budgets, including staffing and capital planning, using analytics to drive efficient operations without compromising care.

Innovate. Champion virtual care models, technology adoption and data-driven decision-making.

What you'll bring (Minimum Qualifications)

Master's degree in nursing, or a master's degree in a related field with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

At least 10 years of progressive senior nursing leadership experience, including oversight at the director level or above

Demonstrated experience leading clinical operations in complex health care environments

Valid, unencumbered, active registered nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia

Nurse executive certification (NE-BC, NEA-BC, CNML or CENP), or the ability to earn it within one year of hire

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on specialty area

Proven success improving quality, safety and operational performance, with strong financial acumen and the ability to influence at the highest levels of an organization

Preferred: Doctoral degree (DNP, PhD or DrPH) strongly preferred. Leadership experience in a Magnet-designated or Magnet-journey organization.

Why Emory Healthcare

United for impact. Join a nursing enterprise of approximately 10,000 team members across 11 hospitals and our clinics, working together as one system.

Knowledge in action. Lead in an academic environment where research and evidence-based practice are part of everyday care.

Relentless in the pursuit. Help shape a health system building the future of care in Georgia and beyond.

More than medicine. Be part of a culture that puts people first — the people we care for and the people who provide that care.

We offer a competitive executive compensation and benefits package, including incentive plan, relocation support, retirement plan, tuition benefits and paid time off.

This is an on-site role. Travel between Emory Healthcare locations and affiliated sites may be required.
