About the job
Director, Facilities — Nemours Children’s Health
Nemours Children’s Health is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven Director of Facilities to lead the strategy, operations, safety, and reliability of facilities across our Delaware Valley locations. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced healthcare facilities leader who thrives in a complex, 24/7 acute-care environment and is passionate about creating safe, compliant, healing spaces for children, families, associates, and visitors.
Why Nemours?
At Nemours, facilities leadership is more than maintaining buildings — it is protecting the environment where exceptional pediatric care happens every day. As one of the nation’s premier children’s health systems, Nemours integrates clinical care, research, advocacy, education, and prevention to improve the health of children and help every child thrive.
In this role, you will lead critical infrastructure, life safety, regulatory readiness, capital planning, and team development for a large, sophisticated pediatric healthcare environment — helping ensure uninterrupted operations for patients and care teams.
What You’ll Lead
Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight for hospital facilities operations, maintenance, infrastructure, grounds, and building systems.
Ensure safe, reliable operation of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, medical gas, emergency power, fire alarm, fire suppression, utility, and life-safety systems.
Maintain continuous readiness for The Joint Commission, CMS, NFPA, OSHA, life safety, Environment of Care, and other regulatory requirements.
Lead capital planning, infrastructure prioritization, vendor partnerships, construction and renovation projects, and a facilities operating budget exceeding $16 million annually.
Develop and support a multidisciplinary team of managers, engineers, technicians, and support staff across a 24/7 operation.
Serve as a trusted facilities leader and partner to executive leadership, clinical departments, regulatory agencies, architects, engineers, contractors, and hospital committees.
What We’re Looking For
Five to seven years of progressive facilities leadership experience in an acute-care hospital environment.
Strong knowledge of hospital regulatory standards, including The Joint Commission, CMS, NFPA, OSHA, life safety, and Environment of Care requirements.
Demonstrated success managing complex facility systems, preventive and corrective maintenance programs, capital projects, budgets, and vendor relationships.
Experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams with a focus on safety, accountability, service excellence, performance development, and continuous improvement.
Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
Basic Life Support certification and valid driver’s license required; CHFM, CHC, CFM, CFPS, NFPA-related credentials, or accreditation survey experience preferred.
The Difference You’ll Make
As Director of Facilities, your work will directly support patient safety, family experience, associate engagement, operational resilience, and regulatory excellence. You will help shape the future of Nemours’ physical environment while leading the people, systems, and infrastructure that keep pediatric care moving forward.
