DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) Services are part of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service Line at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals. The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service Line brings together inpatient, outpatient, consultation-liaison, and integrated behavioral health programs to create a coordinated system of care that expands access, improves clinical outcomes, and advances the mental health and well-being of children, adolescents, and families across UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals.
The IBH programs partner with pediatric medical and surgical specialty programs to provide integrated, family-centered behavioral health care for children, adolescents, and young adults with acute and chronic medical conditions. Mental health clinicians are embedded within inpatient and outpatient specialty services—including Primary Care and medical specialties—to address the psychological, emotional, developmental, and behavioral needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, social workers, child life specialists, rehabilitation providers, and other interdisciplinary team members, the IBH program promotes early identification and intervention, improves access to behavioral health services, strengthens care coordination, and supports positive health outcomes.
