About Supermicro:
Supermicro® is a Top Tier provider of advanced server, storage, and networking solutions for Data Center, Cloud Computing, Enterprise IT, Hadoop/ Big Data, Hyperscale, HPC and IoT/Embedded customers worldwide. We are the #5 fastest growing company among the Silicon Valley Top 50 technology firms. Our unprecedented global expansion has provided us with the opportunity to offer a large number of new positions to the technology community. We seek talented, passionate, and committed engineers, technologists, and business leaders to join us.
Job Summary:
Supermicro is seeking a Sr. Program Manager to lead operations, program, and project management for the Network Switching Total Solutions team. You will own the team’s operating model, which covers how the team plans, commits, delivers, and improves. You will also run the program portfolio across all customers, partners, and internal engagements, and manage individual projects from intake to verified close.
In this role you will:
Design, run, and enforce the operating model and team cadence: daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews.
Manage a portfolio of concurrent programs and projects with clear owners, acceptance criteria, dates, and dependencies across the US, Taiwan, and India.
Track every commitment, flag risks before dates slip, and escalate with an agreed recovery plan.
Report delivery performance and progress toward the team’s mission to senior leadership.
Drive continuous improvement through root-cause reviews and process changes.
This role is based at Supermicro headquarters in San Jose, CA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Includes the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):
Build the Operating Model: Turn the team charter, service catalog, role matrix, processes, and templates into one documented system, with a named owner and a current version for each piece.
Run the Team Cadence: Lead daily commitment board reviews, weekly check-ins with written recaps, monthly business reviews, and quarterly business reviews with senior leadership.
Enforce Standards: Audit adherence to the operating model every week, report gaps to the Senior Director with an owner for each fix, and hold the team to its agreed standards.
Commitment Tracking: Own every commitment board and service catalog request. Log each ask within one business day with an owner, acceptance criteria, and a due date, and close it only with acceptance evidence attached. Nothing is deleted.
Risk and Escalation: Flag at-risk dates before they slip and agree on a new date with the requestor.
Cross-Functional Dependencies: Chase open dependencies with product management, testing, RACK, SONiC, and the teams in Taiwan and India until they clear.
Reporting: Publish a weekly report of commitments met, at risk, and missed, along with progress toward the mission and mission objectives.
Root-Cause Review and Process Improvement: Review every missed commitment within five business days, find the cause, and record the process change in the operating model.
Training Coordination: Plan and schedule the team training program, assign an owner to each session, and track completion.
Qualifications:
8+ years in operations management, program management, project management, or PMO roles, ideally in networking, data center, or AI infrastructure organizations.
Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Proven track record designing processes, templates, and operating rhythms that teams actually adopt.
Strong command of Smartsheet or a comparable work management tool, including dashboards and reporting.
Experience managing many concurrent projects and dependencies across functions and time zones (US, Taiwan, India).
Strong communication and leadership: clear written and verbal communication, the ability to hold peers and senior engineers to agreed standards, and the ability to brief senior executives.
Working knowledge of data center networking, enough to follow engineering discussions and judge when a dependency is real.
Preferred Certifications (one or more)
Project management: PMP
Program management: PgMP or SAFe (Leading SAFe, SAFe Scrum Master, SAFe POPM, or SPC)
Agile delivery: PMI-ACP, PSM I/II/III, CSM, A-CSM, or CSP-SM
Operations management: Uptime Institute AOS, or a Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
Salary Range
$150,000-$160,000
The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
