About the job
Help shape the future of personal lines insurance. Join Verisk’s Actuarial Initiatives team and use your actuarial expertise, analytical skills, and curiosity to influence the products and insights insurers rely on to make critical pricing and risk decisions. You’ll gain broad exposure across Personal Auto, Motorcycles, Personal Umbrella, Homeowners, Dwelling Property, and Pet Insurance.
In this role, you won’t simply maintain existing actuarial products—you’ll help reimagine them. You’ll contribute to high-impact initiatives such as modernizing rating relativities, redefining territory structures, redesigning rating plan architecture, and developing new tools that turn Verisk’s extensive data into actionable insights for insurers.
You’ll also help the team respond to new legislation, regulatory changes, and evolving marketplace needs. Your analyses will support filings involving emerging risks, new coverage offerings, and enhanced policy options—giving you the opportunity to combine technical actuarial work with meaningful industry impact.
Why You’ll Enjoy This Opportunity
Influence highly visible initiatives that shape personal lines insurance products and pricing.
Build experience across multiple lines of business rather than focusing on a single product.
Partner with actuarial, data, product, compliance, and government relations professionals.
Explore new data sources, modeling techniques, and analytical tools.
Expand your technical and business expertise while continuing to progress toward your actuarial credentials.
Collaborate across ISO/Verisk teams—including Actuarial Pricing, Analytic Data Management, Compliance and Product Services, and Government Relations—to maintain, enhance, and develop products that respond to market, competitive, and technological change.
Research emerging modeling techniques and new data sources that can strengthen existing solutions and inspire new products.
Bring a strong customer focus and commitment to quality to every stage of the product development process.
Help lead the evolution of insurance programs by analyzing market, industry, competitor, legal, and regulatory trends—and translating those findings into actionable insights for Verisk and its customers.
Support customers and products by responding to customer and regulatory inquiries, offering expert guidance, and developing marketing materials, publications, and other supporting content.
Build and maintain relationships within and outside Verisk to stay connected to market trends, emerging needs, and customer priorities.
What You’ll Bring
A bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
At least two years of property and casualty actuarial experience is desired; personal lines and/or pricing experience is preferred.
Completion of at least three actuarial exams.
Strong analytical capabilities, with experience interpreting both quantitative and qualitative data.
A self-motivated approach and the ability to contribute effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Clear, confident verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with SQL, Python, and/or R.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
