This role is accountable for leading people, workforce planning, and disciplined execution of product development activities to ensure hardware meets technical, schedule, cost, quality, cybersecurity, and customer requirements. The position works across engineering and program functions to strengthen embedded hardware architecture, programmable logic development, very‑high‑speed integrated circuit hardware description language (VHDL) implementation, hardware integration, test, and technical review readiness. The successful candidate will join a collaborative engineering organization focused on delivering high‑reliability, ruggedized solutions for United States and allied aerospace and defense platforms.
Essential Functions:
Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary product development team across Electrical, Firmware and Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), Software, and Mechanical Engineering.
Direct product development activities from concept and architecture through design, verification, qualification, production transition, and sustainment.
Provide technical oversight for embedded hardware development, including circuit design, power, analog and mixed-signal design, programmable logic, printed circuit board implementation, embedded interfaces, and mechanical packaging.
Guide Hardware Description Language (HDL) development for programmable logic devices, including implementation, simulation, synthesis, verification, and integration into embedded systems
Ensure products are developed in alignment with technical, schedule, cost, quality, manufacturability, and supportability objectives.
Lead or support formal engineering reviews, including System Requirements Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, Test Readiness Review, and production readiness reviews.
Oversee requirements development, allocation, interface definition, traceability, configuration control, and release of controlled engineering baselines and design documentation.
Partner with Project Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Test Engineering, and other functional teams to support integrated program execution and transition to production.
Support workforce forecasting, staffing plans, resource allocation, employee development, and short-term operational planning aligned with business and program needs.
Promote disciplined engineering processes, lifecycle execution, digital engineering tools, and continuous improvement in design quality, documentation, and release consistency.
Support engineering program reviews, staffing updates, basis of estimate inputs, proposal activities, and customer review readiness.
