About the job

Organization Overview

The laboratory of Chemical Immunology and Proteomics applies synthetic chemistry, chemical biology, and proteomics methods toward the goals of discovering and characterizing (a) novel selective chemical probes that perturb the functions of key proteins regulating immunological and neuroimmunological processes; (b) new mechanisms for small molecule-induced protein degradation; and, more broadly, (c) the pharmacological landscape and signal transduction pathways in immune and neuroimmunological disorders. By developing and applying innovative chemical proteomic profiling technologies, we aim to enrich our understanding of the molecular differences between pathologic and physiologic states in immune cells and cells of the nervous system and to leverage them from a pharmacological perspective for the development of new therapies that not only target specific immune cell subtypes, but also the defined activation states of these cells. Please see www.vinogradovalab.com for more information. Overview

The Research Assistant will support ongoing research projects investigating the molecular mechanisms regulating immune cell function, with a focus on T helper cell biology and neuroinflammation. The position will involve conducting experiments using primary immune cells, molecular and cellular biology techniques, and supporting studies using mouse models of neuroinflammation.

Conduct experiments investigating T helper cell activation, differentiation, and function.

Perform molecular and cellular assays, including flow cytometry, immunoblotting, and other biochemical techniques, to characterize immune cell responses.

Assist a postdoctoral researcher with animal studies investigating neuroinflammation.

Analyze experimental data, maintain accurate laboratory records, and participate in laboratory meetings and discussions of research findings.

Prepare reagents, maintain laboratory supplies and equipment, and support routine laboratory operations.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology, or a related scientific discipline.

A minimum of 2 years of extensive laboratory research experience through undergraduate coursework, internships, or independent research projects.

Familiarity with basic molecular and cellular biology techniques.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate experimental records.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research environment.

Willingness to work with laboratory mice and complete required institutional training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with some of the following cell and molecular biology techniques: flow cytometry
