About the job
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lead Researcher to investigate the biologic basis of fusion oncoprotein-driven acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). This is a highly collaborative research project that integrates leukemia biology, molecular biology, structural biology, functional genomics, and translational science.
The successful candidate will lead and support in vitro and in vivo leukemia modeling, including molecular biology, mammalian cell culture and in vivo xenograft and engineered leukemia modeling, proteomics, structural biology and functional genomics. The project will characterize the sequence determinants of biomolecular condensate formation and hematopoietic transformation, with the ultimate goal of nominating and translating therapeutic approaches. The project part of a NCI project grant involving investigators with expertise in structural biology, brain tumor modeling, epigenomics and functional genomics. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in molecular and cell biology, including cell culture, flow cytometry, DNA/RNA isolation, western blotting and functional assays. Experience with genomics, cancer models, or in vivo studies is highly desirable. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to fundamental and translational research aimed at developing improved therapies for children with leukemia.
Job Responsibilities
Perform molecular and cell biology experiments to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying fusion oncoprotein-driven ALL
Conduct molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR-based assays, and Western blotting
Perform flow cytometry and functional assays to evaluate cellular phenotypes, signaling pathways, and therapeutic responses
Contribute to fusion oncoprotein-driven leukemia modeling using in vitro and in vivo experimental approaches
Apply proteomics, structural biology, and functional genomics approaches to identify and characterize potential therapeutic targets
Analyze, interpret, and document experimental data
Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams, and contribute to the development of improved therapies for children with leukemia
Minimum Education and/or Training:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific area is required
Minimum Experience:
5+ years of research experience is required.
3+ years of experience is required with a Master’s degree
No prior experience required with a PHD
Strong knowledge and experience in understanding and application of underlying principles related to techniques being performed
Experience in R&D methods and processes in lab setting, and execution of research projects for the laboratory preferred
Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role
We are committed to a human-centered hiring experience. Technology may support portions of our process, but recruiting decisions involve human review and engagement. Learn more about our approach to AI .
