About the job

The Opportunity

Homecare Homebase (HCHB) is hiring a Vice President, Engineering to lead our Revenue Cycle Management engineering organization—the team responsible for EVV (Electronic Visit Verification), Personal Care, and Revenue Cycle (billing, collections, cash posting, payroll, and general ledger) across our home health and hospice platform. This is one of the largest and most business-critical product lines in the company, backed by a funded, multi-year investment plan.

You’ll report to the Chief Technology Officer and partner closely with a Senior Product Director and a Stream Scrum Master to set direction for the organization. You’ll also take on a meaningful technical opportunity: core Revenue Cycle systems share a tightly coupled, database-centric legacy architecture that we are actively modernizing, and this role will help lead that effort alongside our Chief Architect’s organization-wide decomposition strategy.

Hybrid: This hybrid role is based in Dallas, Texas .

What You’ll Do

Delivery and Reliability

Own delivery of the Revenue Cycle Management roadmap against committed plans and milestones, proactively re-forecasting in writing ahead of any risk to a date.

Own production reliability for every application in the portfolio—both how often it breaks and how long it stays broken.

Define a written alerting and APM (Datadog) requirement for every application, and hold shared infrastructure and SRE functions accountable to an agreed turnaround.

Own technology lifecycle management across your organization—every component on a supported release, with a dated plan for any that are not.

Drive down the cycle time for closing that gap, release over release.

Team and Organization

Build and lead a high-performing engineering organization—hire within approved headcount, shape team structure, and direct day-to-day contractor work alongside your core employee team.

Set defect-triage priority and release cadence for your own teams.

Own the people outcome across your entire organization—development, retention, and fair evaluation at every level—delivered operationally through your Technical Managers, who you hold accountable for doing it well.

Partnership and Escalation

Partner with the Senior Product Director on roadmap sequencing, release scope, customer pilot readiness, and the trade-off between new capability and remediation.

Partner with our Chief Architect’s organization on cross-team architecture decisions, shared platform changes, and new integration patterns against the core database.

Partner with peer VP Engineering leaders across other value streams on cross-boundary dependencies and shared technical seams.

Escalate material risks to the CTO: risk to a committed delivery date, any change to the funded plan’s scope or budget, and anything with impact beyond your own organization.

AI in Engineering and Product

Personally work hands-on with modern AI-assisted engineering tools day to day, and drive adoption of AI-assisted development, testing, and review practices across your organization—making the call on where AI meaningfully improves velocity, quality, or cost, and holding your Technical Managers accountable for adoption on their teams.

Partner with Product to identify, scope, and ship AI-powered product capabilities within Revenue Cycle Management—for example, intelligent claims/billing exception handling or AI-assisted payment posting—taking them from prototype to a reliable, supported production feature with the same reliability and compliance bar as the rest of the platform.

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications

10+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience, including 3+ years at VP/Director-equivalent scope with direct accountability for production reliability across a multi-team, multi-application portfolio.

Demonstrated ownership of incident frequency and duration as a named metric, including defining alerting/APM requirements and holding a shared infrastructure or SRE function accountable to a service-level turnaround.

Experience operating in a paired leadership model alongside a product counterpart, with clear, healthy boundaries between what gets built (product) and how and when it ships (engineering).

Experience managing a blended employee/contractor engineering organization, including vendor transitions.

Current, hands-on fluency with AI-assisted engineering tools (AI coding agents/assistants, AI-assisted code review and testing) as a practitioner, not just a sponsor, plus a track record of driving adoption of those tools across an engineering organization.

Experience shipping AI-powered product features into production, not just internal developer tooling, including accountability for their accuracy, reliability, and compliance once live.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Revenue Cycle Management domain experience—billing, claims, collections, payroll, or general ledger—in a regulated or healthcare-adjacent environment.

Experience in home health, hospice, or post-acute care technology.

Experience modernizing or decomposing a monolithic, database-coupled legacy system.

Experience improving automated test coverage on regulatory-exposed critical paths such as billing, claims, or clinical documentation.

Experience leading global or distributed engineering teams.

Experience operating inside a value-stream or product-pod model rather than a traditional functional (Dev/QA/Scrum) organization.

Experience evaluating or rolling out AI developer tooling (for example, AI-native IDEs or coding agents) at organizational scale, including measuring adoption and productivity impact.

Experience applying AI to financial or transactional workflows specifically—fraud/anomaly detection, exception triage, or document/claims understanding.
