Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Controller: In this important role, the Assistant Controller will support the accounting department’s daily operations and help ensure accurate financial reporting. Responsibilities include:

Financial Reporting: The Assistant Controller will assist with preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.

Month-End Close: Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.

Accounting Operations: Oversee and support AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, and general ledger activities.

Internal Controls: The Assistant Controller will assist in maintaining and improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Audit Support: Coordinate schedules and documentation for external auditors and compliance reviews.

Budgeting & Analysis: Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support leadership decision-making.

Team Leadership: The Assistant Controller will mentor accounting staff and provide guidance on daily accounting activities and best practices.

Qualifications for the Assistant Controller Role: To be successful as an Assistant Controller, you should bring:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

CPA certification or CPA track preferred.

3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities.

Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.

Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.

Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and support leadership initiatives as an Assistant Controller.
