About the job

Our client is a trusted utility and energy provider delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable solutions to homes and businesses. The IT Project Manager leads cross-functional initiatives end-to-end, aligning scope, schedule, budget, and stakeholders to deliver measurable business outcomes. This is a ful time contract position, hybrid, based in Springfield, Virginia, with a pay range of $80.00–$94.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Define project scope, objectives, and success criteria with stakeholders

• Build and manage detailed project schedules, work plans, and milestones

• Forecast and manage resources to meet delivery commitments

• Develop and manage project budgets and track costs to maintain financial targets

• Provide clear status reporting, risk management, and issue resolution throughout execution

• Coordinate cross-functional teams and third-party vendors to deliver agreed outcomes

• Apply PMO standards, best practices, and performance metrics to monitor progress and improve delivery

• Support portfolio leadership by identifying continuous improvement opportunities

Qualifications

• 7+ years of IT project management experience, including leading large, cross-functional initiatives

• Background in regulated energy, utilities, or competitive retail energy markets

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

• Experience working with Agile teams and delivery approaches

• Strong proficiency with common project tools and platforms (Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, SharePoint, and advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio)

• Experience operating in matrixed enterprise environments with multiple business units and external vendors

• Strong financial management skills, including budget tracking and accrual accounting

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field (preferred)

• Agile certification (preferred)
