Position Summary:

Accountable for managing IT capital projects with scope, cost and schedule certainty in alignment with the defined stage gate process. This role provides direction to project team members and resolves or escalates issues that affect these projects. Provides management insight into the assigned projects and how the status of those projects affects business and operational goals. Portfolio project aligns with the IT Telecommunications capital plan.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

IT Project Manager Sr.

Potentially manage a portfolio of projects on behalf of the business customer, identifying priorities, dependencies and conflicts

Proactively manage risks; actively create and execute mitigation plans to prevent increases in scope, schedule, and budget

Assess necessary skill sets and competencies of team members to accomplish project objectives; identify and recommend specific resource and/or training requirements

Advanced knowledge of company accounting and regulatory policies; ability to apply this knowledge to meet program objectives

Recommend and take action to direct the analysis and solution of problems; adjust project as necessary to meet changing requirements

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve processes and tools

Lead project team to establish leading indicators and proactive requirements to deliver customer value and business outcomes; execute projects in accordance with applicable corporate standards, guidelines, policies and processes; adhere to all reporting and submission deadlines, including monthly financial cost analysis

Define the project organization structure required for the project and identify the technical resources required to achieve project goals; work with appropriate Entergy management and/or vendor partner for assignment of resources to the project team; manage vendor contracts and change orders, and approve vendor invoices

Manage assigned projects to meet scope, budget, and schedule commitments and maintain communication channels to provide IT and customer stakeholders with insight into the programs and its status; resolve and/or escalate risks and issues as necessary

Provide clear, timely and accurate project status reports; prepare reports and presentations to stakeholders as necessary

Provide leadership, oversight and coordination with various internal and external resources providing services for the projects assigned

Provide support where necessary in developing business cases and initiate projects to align with departmental strategy

Participate in the acquisition of related software, products, and service

Manage the integration of vendor tasks; track and review vendor deliverables (as appliable)

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve processes and tools

Minimum Education Needed:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or Computer Science or related work experience. Master’s degree is a plus

Minimum Experience Needed:

IT Project Manager Sr: 8+ years’ experience managing projects and/or programs

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed:

Experience managing Information Technology projects

Technical understanding of IT and/or systems operations

Experience in creating and managing project schedules

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required of the position:

PMP or other project management certification desired
