About the job
PermitFlow is redefining how America builds. We’re an applied AI company serving the nation’s builders, tackling one of the largest information challenges in the economy: understanding what can be built, where, and how. Our AI agent workforce helps the fastest-growing construction companies navigate everything from permitting and licensing to inspections and project closeouts – accelerating housing, clean-energy, and infrastructure development across the country.
Despite being a $1.6T industry, construction still suffers from massive delays, wasted capital, and lost opportunity. PermitFlow has already delivered unprecedented speed, accuracy, and visibility to over $20B in development, helping contractors reduce compliance time, de-risk projects, and scale with confidence.
As the U.S. enters a new capex supercycle across data centers, factories, housing, and renewables, joining PermitFlow means building the AI infrastructure at the core of every construction project driving the next wave of reindustrialization.
We’ve raised over $90M, most recently completing our Series B, https://www.permitflow.com/blog/permitflow-series-b from top-tier investors including Accel, Kleiner Perkins https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7401703305569275904/, Initialized, Y Combinator, Felicis, and Altos Ventures, with backing from leaders at OpenAI, Google, Procore, ServiceTitan, Zillow, PlanGrid, and Uber.
Our HQ is in New York City with a hybrid schedule (3 in-office days per week). We prefer NYC-based candidates or those open to relocation.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Corporate Development function decides where PermitFlow should build, buy, and partner to accelerate growth. We look for deals that expand our product, open new routes to market, and move us deeper into the workflow of every construction project.
As a Corporate Development Manager, you'll work directly with our leadership team to find the right acquisition and investment targets, build the case for each one, and drive it from first call through close and integration. You'll also set partnership priorities: deciding which partnerships matter most given our broader business goals. This is a rare chance for a proven dealmaker to build this function at a venture-backed, hypergrowth company and see each deal show up in company results.
You'll own deals end-to-end and have the trust to shape where PermitFlow goes next.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Technical Judgment: Demonstrate strong technical judgment to critically evaluate target technologies and partner platforms, assess product-market fit, and align M&A or partnership strategies with long-term engineering roadmaps.
- Map the Market: Track competitors, new entrants, potential partners, funding, and deal activity across construction tech, vertical AI, and the markets we serve.
- Own the Pipeline: Source, evaluate, and rank acquisition, strategic investment, and partnership opportunities across permitting, compliance, construction software, and adjacent workflows.
- Set Partnership Priorities: Evaluate partnership opportunities against company goals, decide which to pursue and in what order, and hand clear priorities to the Head of Partnerships.
- Make the Build, Buy, or Partner Call: Build business cases and financial models that give leadership a clear recommendation on each opportunity.
- Run Deals End-to-End: Lead each acquisition, strategic investment, and equity or transaction-style partnership from first outreach through diligence, valuation, negotiation, and close.
- Lead Cross-Functional Diligence: Coordinate Finance, Legal, Product, Engineering, and Operations through diligence and deal execution.
- Drive Integration: Own post-close integration plans with the teams involved, and track whether each deal delivers on its thesis.
- Review Partnership Results: Measure live partnerships against their original thesis and recommend where to double down or exit.
- Build the Network: Build lasting relationships with founders, bankers, investors, and strategic partners so the best deals come to us first.
- Bring Decisions to Leadership and the Board: Turn complex analysis into clear, short recommendations for the exec team and board.
WHO YOU ARE
- 5+ years in investment banking, private equity, growth equity, corporate development, or M&A-focused strategy work at a high-growth company.
- Deal operator: you have sourced, led diligence, negotiated, and closed M&A or strategic investments yourself.
- Strong modeler: valuation, deal, and operating models are second nature.
- Sharp judgment: you can learn a business fast and spot the two or three factors that matter most.
- Clear prioritizer: you can weigh competing opportunities against company goals and make a firm call on what to pursue.
- Commercial negotiator: comfortable across the table from founders, executives, and sophisticated counterparties.
- Structured communicator: distills complexity into simple, actionable recommendations.
- Builder mindset: comfortable with limited process, a lot of ambiguity, and full ownership from idea to integration.
- Bonus: experience in construction, vertical SaaS, or regulated markets.
- Excited to build at a hyper-scale startup redefining how America builds.
- Hybrid in NYC: in office Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
