About the job
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Lead Software Developer - Oracle Fusion Applications is the technical leader for development, integration, reporting, extension, deployment, and production-support activities across the Oracle Fusion Cloud application portfolio.
This role provides hands-on technical leadership across all supported Fusion pillars, including ERP/Finance, Supply Chain Management, Human Capital Management, Payroll, Projects, Procurement, and related enterprise integrations. The Lead partners with Systems Analysts, business support teams, product owners, architects, developers, security, infrastructure, and external partners to translate functional requirements into secure, reliable, scalable, and supportable technical solutions.
The position remains hands-on while setting technical direction, promoting common standards across pillars, coordinating complex development work, mentoring developers, and leading resolution of high-impact production issues. The Lead is accountable for cross-pillar technical consistency and supportability, not business-process ownership or unilateral functional solution design.
EXPECTATIONS OF ALL TEAM MEMBERS
High-quality, professional work performed with initiative, productivity, collaboration, and accountability. Team members are expected to support an inclusive work environment, build effective relationships across diverse backgrounds and organizational levels, follow established work rules and procedures, accept constructive feedback, and align with Mortenson values, ethical standards, and applicable policies. KEY RESULT AREAS (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
KEY RESULT AREAS (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Fusion Technical Leadership: Provide hands-on technical leadership for Oracle Fusion application development and support across all pillars. Establish reusable patterns and promote consistent engineering practices across ERP, SCM, HCM, Payroll, Projects, Procurement, and connected applications.
Solution Design and Architecture: Lead technical discovery and design with Systems Analysts and appropriate business and technical stakeholders. Translate approved functional requirements into technical specifications, integration designs, data models, security considerations, deployment plans, and support models.
Cross-Pillar Support: Maintain sufficient breadth across the Fusion portfolio to coordinate and resolve issues that span modules, data domains, integrations, reporting, security, environments, or upstream and downstream systems. Engage pillar specialists when deeper functional or technical expertise is required.
Development and Integration: Design, develop, review, test, deploy, and support integrations, APIs, reports, data extracts, data loads, extensions, user-interface components, and other technical solutions within the Oracle Cloud ecosystem.
Production Support Leadership: Lead technical triage and resolution for SEV1, SEV2, critical, and high-priority incidents. Coordinate logging, diagnostics, root-cause analysis, remediation, validation, communications, and Oracle Support service requests as needed.
Standards and Governance: Define and maintain development, documentation, code-review, testing, source-control, release, deployment, observability, and support standards. Ensure solutions follow established architecture, security, change-management, and environment-promotion controls.
Technical Quality: Conduct design and code reviews for accuracy, maintainability, performance, security, reuse, and alignment with approved standards. Identify technical debt and recommend practical remediation priorities.
Release and Deployment Leadership: Coordinate technical readiness for releases and deployments, including sequencing, dependencies, migration artifacts, rollback considerations, validation, monitoring, and transition to production support.
Team Leadership and Mentorship: Provide day-to-day technical direction, coaching, knowledge transfer, and mentorship to developers. Delegate work based on priority and capability, remove technical roadblocks, and support growth without replacing the people-manager role.
Planning and Delivery: Provide estimates, identify dependencies and risks, assign or coordinate technical tasks, communicate status, and support delivery commitments for sustainment work, projects, quarterly updates, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
Vendor and Partner Coordination: Provide technical direction and quality oversight for work performed by implementation partners, managed-service providers, and other vendors. Confirm deliverables meet Mortenson standards and are maintainable by the internal support organization.
Continuous Improvement: Evaluate Oracle-delivered capabilities, emerging technologies, and development practices. Create proofs of concept when appropriate and recommend solutions that reduce customization, improve reliability, and simplify long-term support.
Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Ensure architecture decisions, technical specifications, runbooks, troubleshooting guidance, deployment instructions, and support ownership are documented and available to the support team.
Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Experience with Oracle Visual Builder / VBCS, Oracle APEX, or comparable Oracle Cloud extension technologies; working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and Oracle JET is preferred.
Ability to diagnose complex cross-pillar issues using logs, monitoring, data analysis, integration tracing, and structured root-cause analysis.
Ability to create and enforce practical technical standards while balancing delivery urgency, security, maintainability, and long-term support cost.
Strong technical leadership, facilitation, delegation, coaching, and decision-making skills; ability to influence across teams without relying on direct authority.
Excellent written and verbal communication, active listening, and the ability to explain technical risks and trade-offs to technical and nontechnical audiences.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, curiosity, and willingness to develop expertise across the full Fusion portfolio.
