We are seeking an experienced Senior Quality Specialist to play a key role in ensuring product quality and compliance through advanced mechanical inspection, CMM programming, quality auditing, and cross-functional problem-solving. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented quality professional with strong expertise in precision measurement, GD&T, and manufacturing quality processes.

This position is based in San Diego (Rancho Bernardo) and is an on-site position working first shift from 6:00am to 2:30pm; overtime available and sometimes required based on business needs.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities :

Program DCC Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) using software.

Inspect fabricated materials for conformance to requirements.

Prepare set-ups utilizing precision measuring instruments to verify all types of measurements.

Report findings to Machine Shop, Engineering and Inspection Supervisor.

Interact with various department supervisors to identify and resolve issues. Provide input regarding the disposition of non-conforming units or materials.

Perform data collection and preparation of reports.

Perform quality audits.

Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility : Provide work leadership to lower level employees.

Qualifications :

Education: High school education and specialized quality education courses.

Experience: Eight years mechanical inspection .

Skills/Technical Requirements : Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, quality assurance standards. Strong working knowledge of ANSI Y-14.5 M, geometric tolerancing and shop mathematics. Experience with precision measuring instruments (surface plate or table, protractors, micrometers, gauges), standard hand tools, coordinate measuring machine (CMM) and optical comparation. Two years CMM programming, preferably with PC DMIS. Good oral and written communication skills.

Job Conditions : Manufacturing/lab environment with constant or intermittent noise.

Physical Demands/Strengths : Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Compensation : The estimated base pay range for this position is $34 to $38 per hour, depending on qualifications, experience education, and other job-related factors. This range represents Cohu's good faith estimate of what it reasonably expects to pay for this role upon hire. This role may also be eligible for other compensation programs as determined by company policy.
