Salary: $125,000–$200,000 Base + Bonus

Position Summary

The ERP Systems Manager owns the administration, configuration, and continuous improvement of the company's Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central environment, along with full ownership of the company's EDI operations. This role is the internal technical expert behind the systems the company runs on, and the go-to resource for integrations between Business Central, Dynamics 365 Sales, and connected platforms. It also serves as the company's internal counterpart to our external Business Central partner, triaging issues and scoping work.

The ideal candidate is a curious, self-directed problem solver who enjoys getting under the hood of a system, communicates clearly with non-technical colleagues, and builds solutions that hold up over time.

The company operates a cloud-based Business Central environment, having migrated from Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017. Business Central supports manufacturing, supply chain, inventory, shipping, and distribution operations. The company is looking for someone with deep functional expertise who can bring fresh ideas, identify opportunities to improve existing processes, and help maximize the platform's capabilities.

This is an individual contributor position reporting to the VP of Finance, with ownership of the ERP function but no direct reports. Approximately 25% of the role involves ongoing ERP administration and support, with the remaining 75% focused on process improvements, enhancements, and project management.

Key initiatives include evaluating and implementing warehouse management solutions, optimizing EDI operations, improving supply chain and distribution processes, and exploring opportunities involving automation, AI, reporting, and business intelligence.

Duties and Responsibilities

Business Central Administration & Support

Serve as the primary internal administrator for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, including user setup, permission sets, security roles, and environment management.

Configure and maintain workflows and related system configuration.

Perform light customization and configuration-level development, including page and report modifications, extensions, and Power Platform solutions. Hands-on development is not required, as external technical partners can perform development work.

Act as the internal counterpart to the company's external Business Central support partner, triaging issues, scoping projects, and holding outside resources accountable to timelines and quality.

Create and maintain clear system documentation, configuration records, and end user training materials.

EDI Management

Own the company's end-to-end EDI operations, including setup, mapping, monitoring, and issue resolution.

Lead the onboarding of new trading partners, from initial specification review through mapping, testing, and go-live.

Maintain and update existing partner maps as specifications, document types, and business requirements change.

Support existing EDI operations utilizing Lanham, including troubleshooting transaction errors, coordinating mapping changes, and working with external partners as needed.

Systems Development, Integration & Automation

Serve as the company's go-to technical resource for system development requests and improvement opportunities.

Support integrations between Business Central, Dynamics 365 Sales, and other connected business systems.

Identify manual, repetitive, or error-prone processes and design automated solutions to replace them.

Work with tools such as Power Automate, APIs, and third-party integration platforms to connect systems and move data reliably.

Partner with Finance and IT on reporting and data initiatives, including Power BI and broader data platform efforts.

Evaluate opportunities to utilize automation, AI, and emerging Microsoft technologies to improve internal productivity, operational efficiency, and the customer experience.

Coordinate with external technical partners to scope, implement, and manage solutions when specialized development or technical expertise is required.

Warehouse Management & Supply Chain Improvements

Lead the evaluation and potential implementation of warehouse management solutions integrated with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Evaluate warehouse management platforms such as Lanham and Insight Works, including their capabilities and integration requirements with existing shipping and EDI systems.

Identify opportunities to improve warehouse, inventory, shipping, and distribution processes.

Support technology planning for potential expansion or relocation of distribution operations, including the ability to manage multiple warehouse locations.

Collaborate with supply chain, manufacturing, and distribution stakeholders to identify process improvements and optimize Business Central functionality.

Role Expectations

Be a self-starter with strong judgment and the confidence to make decisions.

Bring structure and documentation to work that has historically been undocumented.

Balance responsiveness on day-to-day issues with steady progress on longer-term improvements.

Stay informed on Microsoft Business Central developments, EDI standards, and emerging automation and AI capabilities.

Communicate clearly and patiently with colleagues at all levels of technical comfort.

Make clear and intentional efforts to model and reinforce the company's core values in daily actions.

Bring fresh ideas and outside perspectives to challenge existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement.

Take ownership of ERP-related projects, coordinating internal stakeholders and external technical partners to ensure solutions meet business requirements.

Required Qualifications

3 to 5 years of experience administering or supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, with deep functional knowledge beyond basic user support.

Hands-on experience managing EDI setup, mapping, and trading partner onboarding. Experience with any EDI platform is acceptable; Lanham-specific experience is not required.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the discipline to find root causes.

Ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.

Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to document work thoroughly.

Highly organized, dependable, and able to manage competing priorities without losing track of details.

Experience supporting ERP processes involving supply chain, inventory management, warehousing, distribution, or manufacturing, with supply chain and distribution experience particularly valuable.

Experience coordinating ERP enhancements, integrations, implementations, or related technology projects with internal stakeholders and external partners.
