About the job
About Stoke:
Stoke Therapeutics (Nasdaq: STOK), is a biotechnology company dedicated to restoring protein expression by harnessing the body’s potential with RNA medicine. Using Stoke’s proprietary TANGO (Targeted Augmentation of Nuclear Gene Output) approach, Stoke is developing antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) to selectively restore naturally-occurring protein levels. Stoke’s first medicine in development, zorevunersen, has demonstrated the potential for disease modification in patients with Dravet syndrome and is currently being evaluated in a Phase 3 study. Stoke’s initial focus are diseases of the central nervous system and the eye that are caused by a loss of ~50% of normal protein levels (haploinsufficiency). Proof of concept has been demonstrated in other organs, tissues, and systems, supporting broad potential for Stoke’s proprietary approach. Stoke is headquartered in Bedford, Massachusetts. Position Purpose:
Stoke is seeking a Senior Director, Enterprise Applications to own the company’s G&A application portfolio – NetSuite ERP, ADP HRIS and payroll, learning management (LMS), financial planning, procurement, expense, contract lifecycle management and corporate tools – and the SOX IT general controls over them. The immediate priority is leading the NetSuite extension for commercial launch (revenue, inventory, order-to-cash and CMO/3PL integration) alongside the implementation partner through 2027. This leader is the named IT partner to Finance, HR, Legal, Compliance and Internal Audit, is a member of the IT leadership team, and reports to the VP, Enterprise Technology & Architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the NetSuite extension program for commercial launch (scope, design, build, data migration, testing, cutover and hypercare), including integration with CMO/CDMO, 3PL and distribution partners and any supply-planning solution layered on NetSuite; manage the implementation partner.
Own the roadmap and day-to-day operations for NetSuite, ADP and the G&A applications, from the steady stream of small enhancements and requests to enterprise-scale programs, and set the HRIS platform direction alongside the ERP program in partnership with HR.
Own the learning management system (LMS) platform in partnership with HR, Legal, Compliance and Marketing/L&D, who own curriculum and content, for onboarding, corporate and compliance training; coordinate with the Clinical & Regulatory Systems team where the platform also delivers GxP training under validated controls.
Serve as IT partner to Finance, HR, Legal, Compliance, Procurement and Internal Audit; build trusted relationships with functional leaders to understand their strategic objectives and operational challenges, translate business process needs into solutions, and lead process and system design decisions.
Drive continuous improvement by proactively identifying opportunities to streamline G&A business processes and extend system capabilities.
Own IT general controls and application controls for SOX in-scope systems: access reviews, change control, audit evidence and remediation with Internal Audit and external auditors.
Lead the Enterprise Applications team – initially a Business Systems Analyst, Financial Systems, with additional hires planned as the ERP program and commercial scope grow – and manage implementer, contractor and MSP resources as an extension of the team.
Oversee the NetSuite managed service provider: service levels, release management, escalation and ongoing optimization after go-live.
Bring AI capabilities embedded in NetSuite, ADP and the G&A platforms through the AI Steering Committee’s governance process and into use; contribute to the enterprise AI program.
Partner with the Clinical & Regulatory Systems team on GxP-impacted functions within the G&A application portfolio (drug product inventory, lot traceability, distribution and any future touchpoints) so that 21 CFR Part 11 and validation requirements are met alongside SOX controls.
Drive adoption: lead application demos, end-user training and change management for new capabilities and process changes.
Keep enterprise applications documentation current and contribute to IT SOPs, policies and procedures.
Establish integration patterns and master data governance for finance, HR and procurement data in line with Stoke’s enterprise architecture standards.
Lead month-end and quarter-end system support, release management and platform upgrades.
Manage vendor contracts, licensing and the Enterprise Applications budget; report program status through the IT PMO.
Contribute to IT strategy and standards as a member of the IT leadership team.
Required Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, information systems or a related field; advanced degree, CPA or PMP a plus.
12+ years of IT experience in biotech or life sciences, including 5+ years leading enterprise applications, business systems or a broader IT function, with experience at a public company operating under SOX.
Has led an ERP implementation or significant extension as the accountable IT leader working through an implementation partner; working familiarity with NetSuite and ADP.
Demonstrated leadership of a function: hiring and developing staff, setting priorities, managing budgets, implementers and managed service providers, and partnering with executives in Finance, HR and Legal.
Deep working knowledge of SOX IT general controls and application controls, and experience working directly with internal and external auditors.
Experience with HRIS/payroll, learning management, procurement, expense and FP&A platforms and the business processes they support.
Strong business process and requirements skills; able to challenge and partner effectively with Finance leadership.
Vendor, implementation partner and program management experience, across projects ranging from small enhancements to enterprise-scale implementations.
Working knowledge of SaaS integration patterns and cloud concepts, and a solid grounding in cybersecurity and data privacy principles as they apply to finance and HR data.
Familiarity with 21 CFR Part 11 and computer systems validation as they apply to ERP and supply chain functions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to and training groups.
Curious, collaborative and adaptable, with a “seek to understand” approach to business partners and the ability to work autonomously and take on new responsibilities as the company grows.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Experience adding order-to-cash, inventory and 3PL/distribution capabilities to an ERP for a product launch.
Experience building and leading a G&A applications team in a biotech that has moved from clinical-stage to commercial.
Experience supporting a company’s transition from clinical-stage to commercial, including gross-to-net, revenue recognition and serialization/DSCSA touchpoints.
Experience with integration platforms and finance data warehousing.
Experience introducing enterprise AI tools with policy, training and access governance.
