At AMD, we believe technology has the power to solve the world’s most important challenges. From advancing healthcare and scientific discovery to powering AI and the technologies people rely on every day, innovation at AMD is shaping the future.
Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or bringing leading edge products to market, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward. Join us and, together, we’ll advance your career.
THE ROLE:
Join AMD’s IT Systems Engineering team as a Senior Network Engineer and help build the infrastructure supporting next-generation data center workloads and AMD’s global campus network.
In this role, you will architect, automate, deploy, and operate high-performance front-end and back-end networks supporting large-scale AMD Instinct GPU clusters. Working across network, AI, platform, systems, and data center engineering teams, you will ensure the network fabric delivers the bandwidth, latency, scalability, and reliability required for world-class AI training, inference, and high-performance computing workloads.
You will also help design, deploy, and support campus network infrastructure across approximately 300 AMD locations worldwide.
THE PERSON:
You are a collaborative, results-driven engineer who thrives in fast-paced, complex environments. You have a strong sense of ownership, a passion for solving challenging technical problems, and a commitment to operational excellence.
You communicate effectively across teams, build strong partnerships, and influence technical decisions through data and sound engineering practices. You are comfortable leading technical initiatives, mentoring others, and independently driving continuous improvement to deliver scalable, reliable network solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Architect, deploy, operate, and continuously improve high-performance data center networks supporting large-scale AMD Instinct GPU clusters.
Design and scale front-end and back-end network fabrics supporting environments ranging from individual racks to clusters of more than 10,000 GPUs.
Own the end-to-end architecture, deployment, performance, and reliability of data center network fabrics.
Design and optimize high-speed Ethernet and RoCEv2 networks using modern routing, switching, and congestion-management technologies.
Develop scalable and resilient fabric architectures, including capacity planning, topology modeling, and long-term growth strategies.
Optimize communication performance across compute, network, and storage infrastructure.
Lead production incident response, advanced troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and reliability improvement initiatives.
Plan and execute network expansions, GPU cluster scale-outs, hardware refreshes, technology upgrades, and fabric migrations.
Design, deploy, and support wireless, LAN, WAN, and SD-WAN infrastructure across AMD’s global campus environment.
Troubleshoot complex campus networking issues involving routing, switching, wireless connectivity, authentication, IP address management, and WAN architecture.
Partner with AI, platform, systems, data center, and infrastructure teams to deliver highly available network solutions.
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to other engineers.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Significant experience designing, deploying, troubleshooting, and operating large-scale data center networks supporting AI, GPU, HPC, or other compute-intensive environments.
Experience building and scaling back-end network infrastructure for GPU clusters containing more than 10,000 GPUs or comparable hyperscale compute environments.
Strong knowledge of modern data center networking technologies, including Ethernet fabrics, BGP, ECMP, QoS, RoCEv2, network segmentation, and congestion management.
Experience designing and operating scalable leaf-spine, Clos, EVPN, and VXLAN-based network fabrics.
Advanced knowledge of campus networking technologies, including wireless, LAN switching, WAN routing, SD-WAN, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, IP address management, and network authentication.
Experience with network observability, telemetry, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance analysis in large-scale production environments.
Experience with network automation, scripting, infrastructure-as-code, or operational tooling.
Experience leading complex technical initiatives and collaborating across network, AI, platform, systems, and data center engineering teams.
Experience with Juniper, Cisco, Arista, and Aruba networking platforms.
Experience with ClearPass, Aruba Central, Silver Peak, Infoblox, or comparable technologies.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
