What You'll Do

Design and develop robust, scalable data pipelines to support educational platforms and analytics products

Architect and maintain data infrastructure including data lakes, warehouses, and streaming systems

Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, data scientists, and instructional designers to translate educational goals into technical solutions

Lead and mentor junior engineers, conducting code reviews and promoting engineering best practices

Optimize database performance, query efficiency, and data quality across systems

Ensure data governance, security, and compliance with institutional data policies

Contribute to architectural decisions and technology roadmap planning

Monitor and troubleshoot production data systems, ensuring high availability and reliability

What You Bring:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field preferred. Advanced degree is a plus.

5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in data engineering

Hands-on expertise with Apache Kafka or comparable streaming platforms (e.g., AWS Kinesis, Apache Pulsar, Confluent Platform)

Strong working knowledge of JSON Schema and event schema design, including versioning and compatibility strategies

Demonstrated track record taking streaming solutions from initial design through to production deployment, QA/testing, and operational monitoring

Experience with observability tooling — metrics, alerting, and logging for streaming pipelines (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)

Familiarity with cloud-native data platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and security best practices.
