About the job
Whole Foods Market is looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join our Pricing Strategy team. You will own end-to-end pricing analyses — translating pricing science, market dynamics, and business performance data into actionable insights that shape how we price for our customers. As the analytics go-to for pricing strategy, you'll build scalable self-serve reporting, design measurement approaches, and drive recommendations on pricing rules, guardrails, and strategic direction.
This is a high-visibility role. As AI accelerates the pace of our work, you'll help shape what's next for pricing analytics — bridging what our Pricing Science team provides with what Category Pricing and Merchandising teams need, and leveraging emerging AI capabilities to accelerate time-to-insight. We're looking for someone who combines analytical depth with clear communication to senior stakeholders and who thrives on ownership and continuous improvement.
Skills Strong ownership mindset — you dive deep, take accountability for your work, and earn trust through consistent delivery Expert-level SQL (Redshift preferred) and BI tools (QuickSight, Tableau); R or Python a plus Experience building scalable dashboards and self-serve reporting that drive adoption Strong quantitative reasoning — comfortable with large, complex datasets and ambiguous questions Excellent communication — able to distill complex analyses into crisp narratives for senior stakeholders Proactive and curious — you track food, retail, and natural-products trends and experiment with new tools (including AI/ML) A foundation in retail merchandising and/or pricing that lets you operate at both the detail and strategic levels
Key job responsibilities Key job responsibilities Own end-to-end pricing analytics — scope, design, execute, and communicate analyses that inform pricing strategy, rules, and guardrails Build scalable, self-serve reporting in QuickSight and Redshift SQL that lets stakeholders access pricing insights without analyst dependency Serve as the analytics subject-matter expert for pricing strategy, proactively surfacing trends, risks, and opportunities in pricing and market data Bridge Pricing Science, Category Pricing, and Category Merchandising — translate modeling outputs into practical, category-level recommendations Drive recommendations to senior leadership — distill findings into clear, actionable guidance that influences pricing decisions Accelerate time-to-insight by leveraging emerging AI capabilities and automation Analyze market, competitor, behavioral, and transactional data to evaluate pricing effectiveness, price gaps, and customer response Design measurement approaches for evaluating price changes, elasticity, and program performance Mentor fellow analysts and contribute to team best practices for data modeling, visualization, and analytical rigor Partner cross-functionally with Pricing Science, Competitive Intelligence, Category Merchandising, and Promotions Analytics
A day in the life You start your morning reviewing pricing performance data, spotting a widening price gap to a key competitor. You update a QuickSight dashboard you built for Category Pricing — one that lets them slice results without filing an analytics request. Mid-morning, you meet with Pricing Science to refine a model for category-level recommendations. After lunch, you present quarterly pricing insights to a Director-level audience, turning feedback into action items. You close the day exploring an AI-powered workflow that could halve your analysis time and mentoring a fellow analyst on framing a pricing opportunity for leadership. - 3+ years of business or financial analysis experience - 5+ years of Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, power pivots, etc.) and data visualization tools such as Tableau experience - Bachelor's degree or equivalent - Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights - Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders - Experience with SQL - Experience with AWS Tools and Technologies (Redshift, S3, EC2) - Experience with AI/ML technologies - Grocery, retail, or CPG industry experience - Familiarity with pricing analytics, price elasticity, competitive price measurement, or merchandising analytics
