About the job
Welcome to the intersection of energy and home services. At NRG, we’re driven by our passion to create a smarter, cleaner and more connected future.
Vivint Smart Home, an NRG owned company, is a leading smart home company in the United States, dedicated to redefining the home experience with intelligent products and services. We find purpose in proactively protecting and keeping our customers connected to home, no matter where they are. Join the Smart Home team to create smarter, safer and more sustainable homes.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager II to own the customer experience for security detection and deterrence across the Vivint app and in-home displays: how customers see, understand, and act on what their cameras and system detect, and how the system helps discourage unwanted activity in the moment. This role translates complex computer vision and deterrence capabilities into clear, reliable experiences across live video, playback, clips, alerts, lights, sirens, audio, two-way communication, and monitoring workflows.
You will partner closely with engineering, design, AI, camera hardware teams, monitoring operations, and customer care to define what great looks like. You will identify where customers lose confidence in threat detection and prevention, and ship improvements that make the security experience more accurate, useful, and trustworthy.
What You'll Do
Own how camera detections show up for customers across live video, playback, clips, event timelines and alert surfaces.
Partner with AI and computer vision teams to define quality bars, prioritize improvements, and decide when a capability is ready for customers.
Design for moments when detection is uncertain or incorrect, so customers understand what happened and continue to trust the system.
Shape how a detection becomes an alert, a deterrent action or an alarm, balancing customer control with security outcomes.
Improve deterrence experiences such as lights, sirens, audio and two-way communication.
Partner with monitoring operations to understand how event information supports alarm verification and response.
Write clear requirements, lead discovery, align stakeholders and ship on a predictable cadence with engineering, design, and QA.
Partner with marketing and pricing teams to build go-to-market plans for new detection and deterrence experiences
Set and report on metrics that matter, including feature adoption, detection quality, alert engagement, deterrence effectiveness and customer trust.
What You'll Bring
5 years of product management experience, with meaningful experience shipping consumer hardware-plus-software, IoT, video or security products.
Experience working on video software, computer vision, AI-enabled experiences, live streaming, playback, clips or event timelines.
A track record of partnering with technical teams to make complex capabilities understandable and valuable to customers.
Strong product judgment around trust, privacy, safety, and customer control in the home.
Comfort using data, customer insights and operational feedback to size problems, prioritize tradeoffs and measure results.
Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to align senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated experience using AI-native product development tools across the product lifecycle to move faster from idea to evidence, including agent-led discovery, rapid prototyping, lightweight code generation, design exploration, and collaboration with engineering to validate what should be built.
Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field, or equivalent practical experience.
Why This Role Matters
Customers do not just want to know what happened after the fact; they want their home to help prevent problems before they escalate. This role will make detection and deterrence feel more intelligent, timely, and trustworthy by turning cameras, alerts, audio, lights, and monitoring signals into experiences that help customers understand what is happening, take the right action, and feel more protected in the moments that matter.
