About the job
ABOUT CHARTA HEALTH
In an industry where the focus should rightly be on delivering quality care to patients, healthcare providers remain burdened by the complexities of non-clinical operations. Charta is changing that.
We're building the operating system for modern healthcare organizations. Our AI platform streamlines critical workflows across revenue cycle, clinical operations, and administrative functions, helping providers and payers operate more efficiently and deliver better patient care. Backed by Bain Capital Ventures, Charta is on a mission to make every healthcare dollar accountable and every chart accurate, reimagining healthcare infrastructure from the ground up.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We're looking for a Staff Product Manager to lead the development of our platform, the infrastructure, APIs, and self-serve tooling that let us turn complex, bespoke customer builds into scalable, repeatable product. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of platform architecture, customer insights, and go-to-market. You'll work closely with software engineers, forward deployed software engineers, sales, and customers, translating complex, bespoke customer needs into repeatable, self-serve platform capabilities that drive our growth engine.
You will lead platform strategy across customer verticals, building the infrastructure, standards, and self-serve tooling needed to scale our offering efficiently and predictably. This role is the connective tissue between bespoke customer builds and core platform capabilities, identifying opportunities to productize common integration and workflow patterns and deliver leverage across teams, rather than letting customization accumulate as one-off work.
This is a high-trust, high-impact role on a team that thrives on ownership. You'll be translating patterns across customer clusters into durable platform capabilities, unlocking roadmap efficiency and reducing delivery time for future customers.
What you'll do
- Own the platform and infrastructure roadmap underpinning our core business units
- Own the lifecycle of key platform initiatives from inception to launch, including internal tooling that helps engineering build, ship, and deploy more consistently
- Gather technical requirements from strategic customer deployments to inform what gets built into the platform versus what stays bespoke
- Define business models, pricing packages, and commercial standards for platform and API-driven offerings
- Make build-vs-buy and build-vs-partner calls on infrastructure and integrations
- Help steer the growth of our product and engineering organization as platform needs scale
What we're looking for
- 5–8+ years in product management, forward deployed engineering, or a hybrid customer-facing technical role, ideally with real ownership of platform, API, or integrations work
- Proven ability to translate customer complexity into modular, scalable platform solutions rather than repeated bespoke builds
- Experience building platform or infrastructure products with GTM alignment (pricing, packaging, strategy)
- Strong technical fluency, allowing for deep collaboration with engineers on architecture, system tradeoffs, and building scalable infrastructure
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills to align stakeholders across functions
- Bias for action and ownership; thrives in ambiguity and can drive clarity through structured thinking
YOU’D BE A GREAT FIT, IF YOU:
- Turn ambiguity into clarity. You translate customer signals and workflows into clear product direction that balances user needs and technical constraints
- See patterns in the noise. You cut through scattered customer feedback, regulatory shifts and and market signals to prioritize product features
- Build cross-functional trust. You communicate clearly across teams and navigate technical and strategic discussions with confidence
- Drive alignment with precision. You break down complex inputs into actionable product specs that keep engineering, deployment, and leadership on the same page
- Want to build from zero to one. As our first PM, you’ll shape how we scale across verticals, streamline onboarding, and define the future of our product
- Understand how things fit together. You’re fluent in technical tradeoffs, configuration design, and how infrastructure maps to user value
WHAT WE OFFER:
- Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, and more
- Team dinners and snacks in the office to keep you at your best
- Growth opportunities in a fast-paced, innovative tech startup
- Ongoing professional development and access to cutting-edge AI and healthcare tools
- Wellness & learning stipends so you can invest in both your health and personal growth
- Lively in-person (required 5 days per week) work culture at our headquarters in downtown San Francisco
- $250,000 - $300,000 USD depending on experience + equity + benefits
- Annual performance based bonus up to 30%
At Charta, we believe great products begin with great people, and nowhere is that more true than in this role. You’ll be trusted with our most valuable relationships, and given the autonomy and tools to succeed. If you’re excited about healthcare, software, and making complex systems work for people, we’d love to meet you!
