Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or bringing leading edge products to market, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward. Join us and, together, we’ll advance your career.
THE ROLE:
We are looking for a highly motivated Principal Software Commercialization Program Manager to help drive the commercialization and delivery of software solutions within AMD. This is a unique opportunity to help establish and mature the processes that enable software to move from development through commercialization and into the hands of customers.
You will work across business operations, engineering, product management, sales, and other cross-functional teams to help create an effective path for selling and distributing software through AMD's established channels. You will play an important role in connecting technical execution with business objectives, bringing visibility to software roadmaps, coordinating dependencies, and helping teams successfully bring software offerings to market.
This role offers significant opportunity to influence how software commercialization operates within a large, complex organization while partnering closely with both technical and business stakeholders.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate is a proactive and results-oriented program leader who is comfortable navigating ambiguity and working across a complex organization. You are a self-starter who can take ownership of an objective, identify the right stakeholders, and persistently drive issues through resolution.
You communicate effectively with both technical and business audiences and are comfortable influencing across organizations without relying on direct authority. You have strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to translate complex discussions into clear plans, actions, dependencies, and outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead cross-functional programs supporting the commercialization and delivery of software through AMD business and sales channels.
Develop and drive the operational processes needed to support software ordering, distribution, customer access, installation, licensing, and channel enablement.
Partner with business operations, engineering, product management, sales, and other stakeholders to identify requirements, dependencies, risks, and milestones.
Establish and maintain clear program plans, priorities, schedules, dependencies, action items, and success measures.
Drive issues to resolution across organizational boundaries and provide clear visibility into program status, risks, decisions, and next steps.
Partner with software engineering teams to understand development roadmaps and ensure program execution remains aligned with product and business objectives.
Coordinate cross-functional dependencies and help ensure software releases and capabilities are positioned for successful delivery and commercialization.
Support sales and channel enablement by helping ensure appropriate information and assets are available to communicate current and future software capabilities.
During the initial ramp, focus on establishing and executing the processes necessary to enable successful software commercialization.
Over time, expand ownership into broader software program management, roadmap execution, dependency management, and strategic cross-functional initiatives.
Leverage AI and productivity tools, where appropriate, to improve program reporting, visibility, communication, and operational efficiency.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Demonstrated program management experience within a large, complex organization.
Experience with software commercialization, business operations, go-to-market processes, or software sales enablement.
Experience coordinating software ordering, licensing, distribution, delivery, or related commercialization processes.
Strong understanding of software development processes and experience partnering with engineering and technical teams.
Experience managing cross-functional programs involving multiple organizations, stakeholders, dependencies, and competing priorities.
Ability to develop and maintain program plans, schedules, milestones, risks, dependencies, and executive-level reporting.
Experience translating business objectives and technical discussions into clear program actions and deliverables.
Strong communication, organizational, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
Experience operating effectively in environments where processes are still being developed or matured.
Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Project, and Excel is desired.
Experience with Agile development methodologies is desired.
Experience working within AMD or another large semiconductor/technology organization is highly desired.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business, or a related field is preferred.
Formal program/project management education is desired.
PMP, Six Sigma, or similar program/process management certification is preferred.
LOCATION: San Jose, CA or Austin, TX (onsite)
This role is not eligible for visa support.
