About the job
Overview
Working across the globe, V2X builds smart solutions designed to integrate physical and digital infrastructure from base to battlefield. We bring 120 years of successful mission support to improve security, streamline logistics, and enhance readiness. Aligned around a shared purpose, our $4.5B company and 16,000 people work alongside our clients, here and abroad, to tackle their most complex challenges with integrity, respect, responsibility, and professionalism.
As a part of the V2X Ground-Based Radar Development (GBRD) team, we are a part of an exciting opportunity to design and field a Common Radar Back End supporting UEWR, PARCS, COBRA DANE, and AN/FPS‑85 radar sites.
Responsibilities
We are seeking a Senior Network Architect to design and mature the network architecture that underpins GBRD’s mission systems, labs, and operational radar sites. This role is central to enabling a secure, resilient, MOSA-aligned back-end platform hosting containerized radar applications and integrating with multiple integration laboratories serving operational radar sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain network architecture for development laboratories, systems integration environments, computing platforms, and operational radar sites.
Define network requirements for routing, switching, segmentation, redundancy, availability, latency, throughput, quality of service, multicast, timing, and future growth.
Design secure Internet Protocol network solutions using routers, switches, firewalls, virtual private networks, load balancers, and network management services.
Identify and eliminate single points of failures (SPOF) when possible.
Develop logical and physical network diagrams, rack elevations, cable schedules, port assignments, addressing plans, interface definitions, and implementation packages.
Develop and maintain network configuration standards, device templates, naming conventions, backup procedures, and configuration-controlled baseline documentation.
Design and validate high-availability and failover capabilities using appropriate routing, switching, link aggregation, gateway redundancy, and path-diversity technologies.
Coordinate network interfaces with compute, storage, virtualization, container platforms, software applications, cybersecurity tools, and external mission systems.
Support network design for containerized and virtualized environments, including cluster networking, service communication, ingress, egress, load balancing, and network policy enforcement.
Plan and lead laboratory integration, site installation, cutover, fallback, checkout, acceptance testing, and transition to operations.
Develop network integration and test procedures and support troubleshooting, fault isolation, root-cause analysis, corrective action, and retest.
Monitor and evaluate network performance, utilization, availability, faults, and capacity using approved network management and telemetry tools.
Support centralized logging, time synchronization, audit collection, configuration monitoring, and network telemetry integration.
Coordinate with cybersecurity personnel to implement approved segmentation, access-control, encryption, identity, authentication, hardening, and monitoring requirements.
Provide network design artifacts and technical evidence in support of security assessments and authorization activities.
Evaluate hardware and software alternatives and provide recommendations based on technical performance, interoperability, lifecycle support, supply-chain risk, cost, and schedule.
Support technical reviews and clearly communicate network status, risks, dependencies, issues, and design decisions to engineering and program stakeholders.
Support occasional travel to integration facilities & operational sites.
