About the job

The Koch Associate Program (KAP) is a career accelerator for early to mid-career professionals with a drive to tackle our country’s most pressing challenges in more effective, principled ways. KAP equips associates with the tools, mindsets, and community to succeed as social entrepreneurs—individuals excited to find new and better ways to break barriers and eliminate injustice. Associates spend one day each week engaging in experiential learning with Stand Together Fellowships and work at one of our many partner organizations the rest of the week. Our curriculum is designed to supercharge your development and equip you for long-term success as you seek to have an impact on the problems that prevent people from realizing their potential.

The Fiscal Lab is seeking a Communications and Operations Manager to oversee the organization's media relations and social media presence, coordinate logistics for the Center for Strategic Fiscal Reform (CSFR), and support day-to-day Fiscal Lab operations. This role suits someone with Capitol Hill experience who can move fluidly between external-facing communications work in Washington and behind-the-scenes coordination.

The Fiscal Lab operates on a virtual work platform, so the position is primarily remote, with inperson engagement in Washington for CSFR events, Hill meetings, and media work as needed. The position is full-time, with scope and title calibrated to the candidate's experience level. Even though remote, this type of professional engagement works best for someone who lives in the Washington DC metropolitan area.

Key Responsibilities

Manage logistics for CSFR events and initiatives, including speaker outreach, scheduling, and coordination among participating stakeholders, including congressional offices.

Develop and execute social media strategy and content across platforms to raise the Fiscal Lab's public profile.

Draft and schedule social posts promoting Fiscal Lab research, events, and the Weekly Lab Report.

Collaborate with research staff to translate policy work into accessible external communications.

Support ad hoc operations tasks as needed (e.g., event logistics, vendor coordination, internal process support).

Track engagement and media metrics and report on communications performance.

Qualifications

2 to 5+ years of relevant experience.

Capitol Hill experience strongly preferred; familiarity with how congressional offices work and understanding of fiscal policy.

Experience working with prominent Washington media, including press outreach.

Strong written communication skills; comfort writing for a policy and DC audience.

Experience with social media management tools and platforms.

Highly organized and able to manage multiple logistics threads simultaneously, including in a virtual work environment.

Strong interest in fiscal policy, economics, or public policy.

Prior nonprofit or think tank experience a plus.
