Project Director – Power Generation
Step Up to Project Director and Help Build a Growing Power Group
Details
Location: Birmingham, AL preferred; other regional offices considered
Industry: Heavy Industrial Construction – Power Generation
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Job Description
Our client is a large, self-perform heavy industrial contractor whose power group is in growth mode. Its work includes combined-cycle, gas-fired and behind-the-meter generation for data centers and other large private loads. Delivery models range from full EPC to construction-only packages.
Position Summary
The Project Director leads major power projects personally and helps grow the power business. It is built for a strong Senior PM who is ready for the Director title.
What You Will Be Doing
Leading power projects of $20M – $250M+ from estimate through startup and commissioning.
Serving as the owner's primary contact and negotiating contracts.
Spending regular time on job sites and driving accountability with project teams.
Working with business development on win strategies and client meetings.
Required Qualifications
Power generation construction leadership: combined-cycle, simple-cycle, CT, HRSG or industrial power.
Experience owning large EPC or construction projects end to end.
Comfort with flexible delivery models: EPC, construction-only or a major package.
Preferred Qualifications
Behind-the-meter or data-center generation experience.
Established senior-level client relationships. A portable book of business is not required.
Self-perform contractor background.
Not a fit: The client wants an ambitious Senior PM or Project Director on the way up, not an executive stepping back into project work.
Compensation
Project-based incentive of up to 1x base salary.
Relocation available.
Work Environment
Roughly 50/50 office and field. Small, fast-moving power group with direct access to company leadership. A degree is not required; proven project leadership is.
