Job Description
Our client is a large, self-perform heavy industrial contractor. It builds and rebuilds pulp & paper mills, steel and metals facilities, chemical plants, mining operations, and food & beverage and advanced manufacturing plants, in both greenfield and brownfield settings.
Position Summary
The Project Manager runs one project from mobilization through closeout and leads the client's own craft workforce on site. You are the owner's main contact and are accountable for safety, schedule, cost and quality.
What You Will Be Doing
Leading superintendents and self-perform craft: mechanical, piping, electrical, structural steel and concrete.
Planning manpower and tracking labor productivity, quantities and cost.
Managing change orders, forecasts and monthly reporting.
Leading owner meetings and resolving field and design issues.
Driving safety and quality on site every day.
Required Qualifications
5+ years managing heavy industrial construction projects of $25M – $100M+.
Self-perform / direct-hire craft experience, not only managing subcontractors.
Strong command of contracts, change management and cost control.
Preferred Qualifications
Pulp & paper mill experience (highly valued).
Open-shop (non-union) project experience.
Primavera P6 proficiency.
Not a fit: True heavy industrial background required. Commercial, institutional, government or water/wastewater-only experience will not be a fit.
Compensation
Bonus eligible.
Per diem and paid travel home between rotations.
Work Environment
You live on site for the life of the project, typically about three weeks on and then home. Many of the client's project leaders came up through the trades, so experience matters more than a degree.
