About the job

The position is responsible for managing the day-to-day general accounting activities of the division. This includes general accounting, accruals, financial reporting and general ledger activity. Will require interfacing between all departments of the division, divisional headquarters and the corporate office. Directs financial activities of the organization by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Responsible for all financial accounting activity performed on the business system including the impact of transactions, month-end and year-end closings, maintenance of master file databases including G/L, A/P, Treasury and A/R.

Responsible for the operational financial reporting of the NAFTA business units of Darling International regarding; monthly reporting including the HFM financial reporting.

Analyze monthly financial results.

Responsible for the general ledger account analysis of all accounts including various accruals, prepaid and expense accounts.

Responsible for the preparation and approval of monthly and quarterly SOX control documentation.

Responsible for the annual allocation of management fees across the region.

Coordinate with the tax department on monthly and ad hoc data requests.

Preparation of month-end journal entries.

Assist in the fulfillment of annual SOX and Financial audit requests (internal and external audits)

Assist in monthly analysis of operating expenses versus budgets.

Assist in the development of the quarterly forecast and annual budget.

Initiate payments of various commissions and rebates on monthly basis or as needed.

Be proficient and perform as a Super Key User in JDE for the G/L module.

Follows all food safety procedures and practices to promote our food safety culture.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with financial reporting, general ledger accounting, month-end close, and financial analysis.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and financial/accounting systems.

Preferred Qualifications

CPA and/or MBA is preferred.

JDE experience.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Occasional travel to off-site locations is required.

Requires prolonged sitting and movement throughout office/work locations, as well as occasional use of computers and office equipment.

Must occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb or balance.

Must be able to communicate effectively.

Requires the ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10lbs.
