L3Harris is seeking a software-focused Quality Engineer to support the development and sustainment of full‑stack applications used in Quality and Manufacturing continuous improvement activities. This role converts manufacturing and quality processes into structured data models, integrations, visualizations, and production-ready applications. The Quality Engineer will partner closely with cross-functional engineering teams, business process owners, and site stakeholders to build scalable, secure, and reliable software solutions. This position combines software development expertise with process understanding to enhance digital capabilities and operational performance across the enterprise.
Essential Functions
• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and support full-stack software solutions in support of Quality business processes. • Develop backend services, data models, application frameworks, integrations, and reusable components using Python, SQL, and related technologies. • Create intuitive frontend experiences that help engineering teams and production personnel access and act on quality and process information. • Translate process control concepts and workflows into structured data models, APIs, ontologies, visualizations, and application functionality. • Develop data architectures and visualization solutions that consolidate information from quality, engineering, manufacturing, automation, and enterprise systems. • Partner with Advanced Operations Technologies to build and maintain interfaces with SCADA systems, shop‑floor equipment, manufacturing data sources, and production-facing configurations. • Manage the full application lifecycle, including requirements analysis, technical design, source control, testing, deployment, documentation, maintenance, and production support. • Troubleshoot application and data issues, determine root causes, and coordinate resolution across relevant stakeholders. • Collaborate with cross-functional groups to define system interfaces, validate solutions, and manage changes through proper technical review. • Recommend improvements to software, data structures, workflows, and development practices to improve scalability, usability, reliability, and maintainability. • Provide technical guidance, code reviews, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to team members.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance. • Ability to travel up to 15%.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience in software development, application engineering, data engineering, systems integration, or a related technical discipline. Graduate degree with a minimum of 4 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of prior related software development experience.
Preferred Skills
• Experience developing backend and frontend solutions using Python, SQL, and related technologies. • Experience across the software development lifecycle including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting. • Experience building or integrating applications using structured data, APIs, databases, or enterprise information systems. • Ability to work on-site with manufacturing systems, equipment, and cross-functional teams to deploy scalable solutions. • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Experience developing applications in Palantir Foundry (Workshop, ontology-based apps, pipelines, Foundry data models). • Experience with Snowflake, Snowpark, Snowflake Cortex, Streamlit, Power BI, Power Apps, SharePoint, or similar platforms. • Experience with Ignition, Perspective, MQTT, Sparkplug B, Unified Namespace architectures, SCADA systems, or shop-floor data acquisition. • Experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, React, or other interactive UI technologies. • Experience working in manufacturing environments including automotive, medical, aerospace, or defense industries. • Familiarity with process control plans, PFMEA, SPC, MSA, process capability, or related quality concepts. • Experience integrating data from MES, PLM, metrology, ERP, industrial automation, or comparable systems. • Experience supporting production applications and implementing secure, auditable solutions with appropriate access controls and disciplined configuration management.
