About the job
Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.
We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.
We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.
If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.
About the Role:
We're hiring a Staff Systems Engineer, Microsoft Infrastructure to own Crusoe's corporate IT infrastructure end to end: the servers, virtualization, storage, networking, and cloud platforms that keep our offices, warehouses, manufacturing (CI) facilities, and data centers running. This is a hands-on individual contributor role. You will personally build, migrate, and support servers, and you will be the escalation owner when infrastructure breaks.
At the staff level, you also set the direction. You'll own the infrastructure roadmap, prioritize across projects, and work directly with business stakeholders to understand requirements before you build. Some of our hardest problems sit here: moving specialized applications, such as manufacturing software with licensing tied to physical hardware, off on-prem servers and into the cloud when the vendor never designed them to run there.
What You'll Be Working On:
- Manage and modernize Windows Server environments—including Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, Group Policy, certificate services, and file infrastructure—across Hyper-V, VMware, and bare-metal systems
- Drive on-premises to multi-cloud server migrations (Azure, GCP, AWS), navigating complex software dependencies, restrictive vendor licensing, and legacy workloads
- Architect and operate core compute, storage, and server networking resources, collaborating with Network Engineering on site connectivity and infrastructure deployments
- Deploy Azure Arc to standardize governance, security policies, and operational monitoring across hybrid server environments
- Design and maintain IaC configurations using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates to enable auditable, version-controlled automation
- Oversee Microsoft 365 and Entra ID tenant health, securing access via Conditional Access and MFA while managing Okta identity federation
- Lead system monitoring, backups, disaster recovery strategies, and incident response, acting as the primary escalation point during on-call rotations
- Execute hands-on physical server deployment—racking, cabling, and provisioning—at corporate offices, data centers, and manufacturing facilities, requiring occasional site travel
- Establish infrastructure roadmaps and technical standards, managing priorities while ensuring compliance with SOC 2 and SOX controls
- Provide technical mentorship to junior IT systems team members and produce detailed architecture diagrams and runbooks
What You'll Bring to the Team:
- 10+ years of hands-on infrastructure experience, including recent, day-to-day ownership of Windows Server environments on current versions
- A track record of migrating production servers and applications from on-prem to cloud, including troubleshooting dependencies and licensing issues yourself
- Working knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (GCP, Azure, or AWS) at the level needed to build, network, and run virtual servers; experience across more than one is a strong plus
- Solid foundations in storage, virtualization, and networking as they relate to server workloads
- Infrastructure-as-code you've written yourself (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM), plus PowerShell or CLI scripting for automation
- Entra ID and Microsoft 365 administration; experience integrating Entra with Okta or another identity provider
- Experience owning backup, disaster recovery, and incident response for production systems
- Comfort with hands-on physical server work (racking, cabling, firmware) and regular travel to sites
- Experience setting technical direction and prioritizing a roadmap while staying hands-on; clear, patient communication with non-technical stakeholders
Bonus Points
- Experience migrating specialized or industrial applications (manufacturing, CNC, OT) to virtualized or cloud environments
- Microsoft certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-800/801 (Windows Server Hybrid Administrator), or MS-102
- Linux server administration in hybrid Windows/Linux environments
- Experience supporting new site builds alongside facilities teams, cabling vendors, and ISPs
- Familiarity with Microsoft Sentinel or similar SIEM tooling and log pipelines
Benefits:
- Competitive compensation and equity packages
- Restricted Stock Units
- Paid time off, paid holidays & leave of absence programs
- Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance
- Employer contributions to HSA account
- Paid parental leave
- Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability
- Professional development & tuition reimbursement
- Mental health & wellness support
- Commuter benefits (parking & transit)
- Cell phone stipend
- 401(k) Retirement plan with company match up to 4% of salary
- Volunteer time off

Compensation Range
Compensation will be paid in the range of up to $155,000 - $190,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicant's knowledge, education, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
