About the job
Staff Accountant
We’re partnering with a growing manufacturing company in the Houston area that’s looking to add a Staff Accountant to its Finance & Accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working across general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close while supporting day-to-day financial operations in a manufacturing environment.
If you’re detail-oriented, highly organized, and have strong experience in general accounting, financial reporting, and account reconciliations, this could be a great fit.
What You’ll Do:
Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments
Reconcile bank accounts and assigned balance sheet accounts
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoice review, payment processing, and collection follow-up
Assist with month-end and year-end close activities and preparation of financial reports
Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
Assist with inventory and manufacturing accounting, including reviewing transactions and account balances
Research variances and resolve routine discrepancies in collaboration with operations and other departments
Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for audits and tax filings
Ensure compliance with established accounting policies, internal controls, and record-retention procedures
Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies to maintain accurate financial records
Perform additional accounting duties as needed
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
5+ years of relevant accounting experience
Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close
Manufacturing industry experience is preferred
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Experience with journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
