About the job

Organization Summary:
Community Care Cooperative (C3) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit multi-service organization governed by Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). Our mission is to leverage the collective strengths of FQHCs to improve the health and wellness of the people we serve. We fulfill two primary business functions for the FQHCs we work with. First, we are an FQHC-led accountable care organization (ACO); second, we are a Management Services Organization (MSO) for FQHCs.
As an ACO, we negotiate value-based payor contracts on behalf of our FQHCs, hold and operate those contracts (including fulfilling many compliance, financial management, and population health management functions), and maximize the return to FQHCs of any incentive dollars earned. We are proud to be the market leader in the MassHealth ACO Program. We are the largest Medicaid ACO in Massachusetts, and we operate a variety of business offerings nationwide.
As an MSO, we (along with our subsidiary companies, which are also FQHC-led non-profits) provide several financial, operational, and technological services to groups of FQHCs. These services include Epic EHR licensing and implementation; pharmacy operations consulting as well as the building and direct operation of on-site retail pharmacies; billing and credentialing; employer-sponsored insurance; and others.
We are a fast-growing, dynamic organization developing new partnerships and programs to improve the health of members and communities, and to strengthen our health center partners.

They will work under and with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to achieve the organization’s targets on annual quality of care, total cost of care savings, innovation, value-based care, and growth opportunities throughout the organization’s business line. This role will include strategic insight and contribution to the clinical program strategy. The medical director will also work across the organization with colleagues in units including quality, innovation, risk-adjustment, Medicare and Medicaid-specific strategies, policy, care management, and other areas. They will also partner with CMOs and clinical leaders at C3 FQHCs to ensure that C3’s strategy and implementation are responsive to local community needs and health center capabilities in order to maximize the success of individual health centers and C3 as a whole. Successful candidates will be comfortable and adept working across a multi-matrixed organizational structure with use of both direct and indirect influence on projects, while working to partner with a heterogenous set of health center stakeholders. The medical director serves as a key organizational leader and models collegiality in everything they do, including in interdepartmental workings.

Such efforts will include work in our subsidiaries, Community Technology Cooperative and Community Pharmacy Cooperative, and new other emerging lines of business including those in Medicare, commercial insurance, and medical education

Supports the CMO and other team members in standing up novel new programs for value-based care in the organization’s portfolio
Collaborates with health center CMOs to gather information related to common issues and representing policy concerns to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), or other similar bodies in coordination with the CMO and/or other Chiefs
