Job Title: Sr. Product Manager (hybrid- onsite Monday- Thursday)
Location: US-GA-Atlanta (Sandy Springs)
FLSA : Exempt
#LI-Hybrid
Job Overview :
Safe-Guard administers the protection products that dealerships sell in the finance office for most major automotive brands in North America. These products include vehicle service contracts, prepaid maintenance, tire and wheel protection, and GAP coverage. The software supporting this business enables dealers to quote and sell contracts, process remittances and reporting, manage claims, and allow consumers to purchase products directly from automotive brands.
We are building a product management function to manage this software as a portfolio with clear ownership, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes. As a Sr. Product Manager, you will own a set of client-facing products end to end, from defining the roadmap to measuring results.
While we have dedicated teams responsible for delivery, this role is responsible for setting product direction and owning the outcomes.
You will work closely with project managers, business analysts, engineering leads, architects, and designers. As the product owner, you will establish priorities and direction while partnering with these teams to execute within their respective disciplines.
At any point, you should be able to clearly communicate where your products are headed, why that direction matters, what the current priorities are, what is being delivered next, how the products are performing, and what risks could impact success.
What You Will Own
Product Ownership : Own two to three products, including their users, workflows, integrations, dependencies, limitations, and business value. You will serve as the primary point of contact for the business when questions or decisions arise regarding these products.
Product Roadmap: Develop and manage roadmaps that connect business strategy, dealer and OEM needs, competitive pressures, and technology capabilities. You will build, defend, and adjust these roadmaps as new information becomes available, including determining which initiatives should be deferred.
Requirements Gathering : Engage directly with dealers and OEM partners to understand their needs, observe how they use our products, and translate those insights into product requirements and improvements.
Prioritization: Translate senior leadership priorities into actionable product priorities, making recommendations based on customer value, business impact, effort, risk, and dependencies.
Definition and Acceptance: Establish product intent, align on acceptance criteria, and determine when deliverables are ready. Business analysts will support this process by documenting technical requirements and details.
Engineering Partnership : Work closely with a dedicated development pod aligned to your products. You will own product sequencing and maintain enough visibility into delivery to identify potential risks early, while engineering retains responsibility for architecture, security, and implementation decisions.
Product Outcomes: Focus on measurable outcomes rather than output alone, including adoption, usage, revenue, and cost to serve. Define success metrics before development begins, own release readiness, and evaluate performance against those measures following delivery.
Product Modernization: Evaluate existing products and platforms to determine what should be consolidated, modernized, or retired. You will develop and communicate the business case for these decisions.
How We Work
Intake and Prioritization : We operate through a centralized intake process and prioritization forum, where requests are evaluated against established criteria to ensure consistent decision-making.
Product Documentation: Roadmaps, requirements, and status updates are maintained in Asana to provide visibility, accountability, and alignment on committed work.
Dedicated Development Resources: Development resides within IT, with capacity dedicated to product initiatives and protected from reassignment. We are also moving toward agent-led delivery alongside our technology organization, with product managers providing human oversight and approval of agent-produced work.
Customer Engagement: Product managers are expected to spend time in the field regularly, working directly with dealers and OEM partners to understand their experiences, challenges, and evolving needs.
The above statements are intended only to describe the general nature of the job and should not be construed as an all-inclusive list of position responsibilities.
Job Requirements:
Seven or more years in product management, with at least three owning a B2B, platform, or workflow product end to end.
A track record of shipping software that people adopted, and the ability to talk about what did not work as clearly as what did.
Comfort with technical detail. You can work through architecture and integration questions with engineers without being the engineer.
Direct customer discovery experience. You have sat with users in their environment, not only read research summaries.
Fluency with data. You can define a metric, get the number yourself, and change your mind when it says something you did not expect.
Credibility with executives. You can take a recommendation to a room of senior leaders and defend it.
A practical view of AI in two places: what it changes about the product a customer uses, and what it changes about how quickly we can build.
Prefferred Job Requirements:
Automotive F&I, insurance, warranty, or another regulated financial product.
Dealer-facing, channel, or partner-facing software.
Replacing or consolidating a legacy platform while it is still running.
Working with AI-assisted or agent-led development teams.
Company Benefits:
