About the job
Contract Software Engineer
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer Contractor to join a technology team that builds and supports the infrastructure and applications that run the business. In this role, you’ll contribute to custom application development and third-party integrations, partnering closely with a cross-functional squad and internal stakeholders.
Compensation: $75-80/hour*
*Listed not guaranteed – potential offers vary based on experience level, qualifications, and internal equity and may be outside of this range.
This a contract position (6+ months) working hybrid in Boston, MA.
Responsibilities
Develop clean, maintainable software for business-critical applications and integrations
Create and maintain automated unit tests to support strong test coverage
Participate in peer code reviews and raise overall code quality standards
Follow established engineering best practices and contribute to shared standards
Collaborate day-to-day with squad teammates (Squad Lead, Business Analyst, Quality Engineer, Software Engineers) and internal business partners
Requirements
4+ years of professional experience as a software engineer
Strong Java and/or Python development skills
Advanced SQL skills for storing and retrieving data
Experience building frontend features with Vue.js or a similar JavaScript framework
Working knowledge of cloud architecture (AWS preferred)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; collaborative working style
Experience with Charles River Development (CRD) IMS/OMS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, or a related field
